A beautiful National Park not too far from Las Vegas – Zion. This is a relatively small park but it has so much to offer. This is one of many images I have from the park. Shot with the P65+ and a long lens. This is one of the valley cliff walls. Color is amazing and the scene is very striking under the right light.

Scary Head
My favorite Antique, junk yard – Sunset Junque in Michigan is a photographer’s paradise. This image was of a paper mache character there. I love the blue eyes. I took the image shot with a Canon 5D11 and then ran it through the iPad adding some effects. I think I have made this image creepy enough. I posted another image I made here a few days ago. Look for more I have a lot of fun and great images from this place.
The Stairs
Continuing with Mexico shots I present another image from the abandoned hotel. This is a set of stairs basically going no where. It was made with 5 exposures and brought together in Photomatix and then post processed on the iPad. Amazing what you can do with your photographs these days. I really liked the feel and the way this flows. Let me know what you think.
The Room
While in San Manguel Mexico my friend Michael Reichmann and I explored an abandoned hotel. Apparently they were building this nice hotel only to discover it was too close to a dam and if the dam burt the hotel would be gone. So, they just stopped building it. I shot this with the GH2 in HDR mode. Then took the image into a few iPhone apps then output finished a few things in PhotoShop and here you have the final image. This was a room off to the side and it just caught my eye. Read into it what you may.
Creepy
There is this cool place I visit every year called Sunset Junk just outside of Saugatuck, Michigan. This a photographers’ paradise and you will see more images from this great place over time. This was shot of two mannequins sitting under old hair dryers with weeds growing around them. Shot on a Canon 5DII and then worked on in the iPhone.
Alone….
A Little Bit of Mexico
It has been a busy week. I started in Chicago doing scouting and set up for the July PODAS Architecture Workshop. followed that up visiting schools and doing a Phase One IQ rollout. Got back to Indy, changed suitcases and was headed to Atlanta for a few days at the SPE – Society Of Photographic Educator conference. all of it was buys and a lot of Phase One business. All good. Now I am back in the office for a week doing follow-up as well as prep work for the Death VAlley workshop as well as Ireland workshops coming up soon. Then on Sunday I attended a workshop held by my friend Harry Sandler on iPhone Photography.
Today’s shot was made in Mexico on a recent trip there in San Miguel. I did this with a Panosonic GH2 which is a great street shooters camera. I love shooting people on the street and this is a good shot of a local. I’ll be using the GH2 for upcoming blog images for the PODAS workshops. It does great videos too.
Blue Sky
The Palouse is a very beautiful area of eastern Washington state. It’s a very large area of rolling hills and fields. There are hundreds of places to take amazing photos. I have photographed there a few times and I discover new places each trip. I am planning to do a workshop there in the next few months. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this amazing photo.
Rusty Ladder
Imagine my surprise when visiting Antarctica to stumble upon rusty things. I love rust and decay and here I was at the bottom of the world at an old whaling station and there was rust and lots of it. So I went crazy and shot a lot of photos. One of them is above of a ladder going up a tank that held whale oil. You’ll see more from this series over time here on this blog. What I remember most is that about ten minutes after I shot this photo I went swimming not one but twice. Swam out to an iceberg. Very stupid thing to do. On the swim back to shore my limbs stopped functioning. The cold water there will zap you and kill you quickly. Makes for great stories now, but I will never forget how cold it was. This was photographed on Deception Island.
Things – Looking Up
Back to up. Once again it is good to look up. You can find pattern, texture and all sorts of things. This shot os of the wrigley Building in Chicago from inside the courtyard, looking up. I have been in Chicago for the last few days doing business and setting things up for the PODAS chicago event this July. This is such a great city for Architecture. Consider coming to the July, PODAS Architecture workshop.
