Making The Best Chicago Skyline

The final image after adjustment in Capture One and adding a sky from Luminar 4
The final image after adjustment in Capture One and adding a sky from Luminar 4

One of the things I like doing when visiting Chicago, one of my favorite cities is to take the architecture tour.  This is a boat tour that takes you up and down the river then out to Lake Michigan.  The photo ops on the trip are numerous, especially you take the tour at different times of the say.  I wanted to share on a picture I took on the trip.  Essentially I took an image that looked of (below) and then using Capture One made adjustments to the image you see above.  The main tools were level, color temp, contrast, clarity, saturation.   I’ll be doing tutorials on photoPXL.com to show how all this is done.  But, you need to have confidence that if you take a photo that you might question, that in the end, you can use your software to bring it to life.

Polar Bear In Svalbard

I have made at least six trips to Svalbard.  Svalbard is a territory of Norway in the polar circle.  We normally board a ship there and spend at least ten days exploring the area.  Part of the mission on the trip is to photograph polar bears.  This is one Polar Bear we tracked for a while.  You can search this site for Polar Bear and find more photographs of thse magnificent creatures.

New Orleans Cemetery

When I travel I like to visit places that define the region.  In New Orleans because of high water tables, they don’t bury their dead but use methods like crypts and mausoleums.   They are very interesting to photograph.  I have visited some of the world’s most famous cemeteries like in Buenos Aires and Punta Arenas.  These locations are gorgeous properties and they also use mausoleums for their dead.  In any case, this image shows one of the areas of one of the many city cemeteries.

Sunset In Iceland

Sunset in Iceland

Iceland is where photographers go when they die.  It’s a beautiful landscape and light never stops giving.  Sunsets and sunrises are special every day.  as a photographer, you don’t get much sleep in Iceland because there is so much to see.  This sunset with the moon was made one evening after a hike up a mountain.  The whispy clouds, sunset color, and moon make it simply work.
