Tango Girl

Tango Girl, La Boca, Buenos Aires

There is a lot to like about Buenos Aires.  It is a city of color, intrigue, danger and some pretty cool people.  In the La Boca area of the city is a charming colorful section of shops and homes.  Mostly made of corrugated tin.  On the streets there are couples that grab tourists and tango with them, for a price of course.  everyone has their hand out for the dollar.  So, while enjoying this area photographically I saw this girl waiting for her next dance.  I loved the image because of the leg and head and the way they looked.   I took the images made with a Canon 5dII and put it in my iPad and manipulated it using a great new program called snapseed.  I will post another image tomorrow from the same area.

Another People Shot

A good friend commented to me yesterday how much she liked my Irish man photo.  She said I should photograph more people and show them on my blog.  So, I’ll try to show more people pictures.  This image is a fisherman from Newfoundland.  I did a few years ago but it is a nice images and a great face.  I got to thinking that I will do better at taking pictures of people.

School House On A Bluff

School House On A Bluff, Ireland

The PODAS works shop is now over and oh what a workshop it was.  It was a week of a lot of photography, good classroom sessions and lots of fun and laughs.  It’s great when you can bring fifteen photographers together from all over the world and share a similar passion.  Bidding farewell was bittersweet, but I am sure we all will meet again on a future PODAS workshop.  This photo was made with a Phase One P65+ on an ALPA camera with an extreme wide angle lens (23mm).  It is a another view from the one published the other day.  If you ever get a chance to visit Ireland, you will find a beautiful country with very friendly people.  Put it on your bucket list.

Ireland Is Fantastic

Minard Castle Beach - Ireland

I can’t even begin to tell everything that has happened on this trip to Ireland.  I am having a great time.  The attendees on the PODAS workshop are having a blast and all of us are taking and making great photos.  The image above is a 30 second exposure taken at Minard Castle Beach.  See the Phase One PODAS blog for more details.

Ireland Sunset

Sunset at the Lake Hotel, Killarney, Ireland

Does it get much better?  Nope, tonight was fantastic.  This was shot on my iPhone and I also shot many images from tonight’s dusk extravaganza on my Phase One  IQ180.   Really busy here in Ireland and it will be a great week full of surprises.  Enjoying the country a lot.  Tomorrow we kick of PODAS workshops.  You can follow at www.podas.info my other blog.  I have a lot of editing to do on my return trip home.

A Place

So, what does it mean?

While at my sons wedding a few weeks ago I went exploring and found this corner mechanics shop with a variety of old and rusty things.  The place was a photographers dream thus for the next day or so you will see images from there.  This was one that was just randomly nailed to the wall of the building.   Why a license plate and a horseshoe?  Don’t know but it caught my eye.  There were old tricks, gears, junk, and even a truck that was sold old it had to be from the thirties.  It had a big Redwood tree still on it’s bed and there was tree growing out of it.  Look for more soon.

Death Valley – Storm Coming

Death Valley Storm Coming

One thing I love about photographing in the west is the wide open – big sky feel that you get.  You can see so far and so high and you get a perspective that you can’t get when you live with obscured horizons and trees everywhere.  This was shot in Death Valley on the road to Beatty.

The B&W Palladium

The Palladium, Carmel, IN

A few posts ago I published a color HDR version of the NEW Performing Arts Center – Palladium in Carmel, IN.  Here’s yet another in a Black & White version.  This building is so cool that I will be shooting it under different conditions for some time to come.  Hope to start interior photos with the IQ 180 very soon.

I am heading to Ireland on Wednesday so the blog may be spotty as it will depend on internet connections where I am traveling.  I’ll be leading a PODAS workshop and we will be visiting some magnificent locations.  Look for images to be coming your way.
