Sometimes it is best I don’t write a lot but just let you enjoy what simple good composition can do to make a nice image. Shot in the Palouse area of Washington state. Same place as the truck image from the previous post.

Truck In A Barn
One of my favorites spots in the US to shoot is an area called the Palouse. It’s Located in SE Washington and consists for rolling farmland. Yeah, I know farm land, sure how can that be so great? The area is surreal, beautiful old barns, immense skies and all sorts of surprises. The season in late May to early June is planting time. This si where the fields are being plowed and planted. The landscape if dynamic. Then in late August the harvest takes place and it even more dramatic. You can use the cloud tags below and click on Palouse to see more images. This shot is of an old truck found in a barn there. Abandoned near as I can tell in the late 1940’s. Pristine condition, no vandalism and just waiting to be photographed. From the ton of images I did there this one kind of tells the overall story.
Twins
Going through some of my images the other day I came across this image from one of my trips to Antarctica. What I like is how the icebergs matches the same look as the mountains behind. Antarctica is so pretty and full of many surprises like this. I have so many iceberg pictures. MAybe time for an Iceberg book.
A Bit More Rust
Pretty soon I will get back to posting the majestic landscapes again. However, today and for a bit longer I will stay urban. Today’s images is of a large oil storage tank and a run down fuel depot in southern Indiana. I love the rust, peeling paint and blue sky. So many contrasts. Enjoy.
Inside Mexican Church
On my recent trip to San Miguel, Mexico, we were given the chance to see behind the sciences at a large church not to far from San Miguel. There was a pilgrimage going on at the time and this is a shot inside one of the courtyard inside this church. I like the arches, and the way the people are positioned. What are they doing? What is this place.
Hot Rod Engine
I always marvel at engineering. Like when you think of your iPhone, hoe did they figure out a way to design it so it looks cool and do all it can and make millions of then. Or step inside a nuclear submarine and think about all the wire and pipes and how they figured out where it all went and worked together. Amazing stuff. Look at this picture of hot rod engine. Just beautiful in looks and how it functions too. To think someone drew the idea out on paper originally .
Rust and Peeling Paint
If you are a regular follower of this blog you will know one of my favorite things to photograph is rust and decay. This past Sunday I was out on a photo adventure and ended up in Bedford, IN. Interesting and typical small Indiana town. Not being satisfied with just Main Street I drove down a side road that eventually took us to an industrial part of town. It was very surreal. Big old gas tanks with rust and peeling paint, junk yards, abandoned factories. All very strange and somewhat scary. Today’s shot was made of close ups of peeling paint on these giant fast tanks. I love the rust color and how the paint is curling as it peels off. I shot hundreds of these and they are all kind of beautiful in their own way.
It Was a Photo Sunday
Every now and then it is fun to go out and shoot on a Sunday. I set out with my photo buddy and friend Debra and set a target of Spring Mill State park. Never one to take the direct route I decided we would travel through some small Indiana towns. We visited a few towns but in Bedford, IN we made a right turn and just started driving and came into the industrial area of the town. Kind of creep and as I post more images you’ll see why. I could do a whole photo story on this town. We started out photographing rusty gas tanks, then rotting doors, then we stumbled upon this gigantic junkyard and it looked very apocalyptic. There were old cards, machines, and thousand of old military howitzer rounds. Then we found giant abandoned factories and some very different neighborhoods. In one neighborhood as we crossed the tracks we see this pickup just sitting in the grass, an old swing set and a sign next to the railroad tracks. Behind us was a house with kids toys all over that sat only six feet from the tracks. I shot an image above with the signs, truck and swing and then decided to enhance it a bit to give more the feel for what I was seeing there. I’ll be working on more images this week.
Pilgrimage – Mexico
While on my recent trip in Mexico we got a rare opportunity to visit a church in a small village. Daniel Ortiz our local attendee with us knew the priest at this church and obtained permission for us to photograph in the back of the church where most people never go. The church was holding a pilgrimage and there were a thousand men there for the week praying and being part of the event. I have a lot of images that are really nice and will be sharing them here over time. This image though I liked. The detail in it blown up large is so sharp. I used an IQ 180 camera to shoot it so it better bee with 80 mega pixels. This was a hall that I stumbled upon by accident and it just blew me a way. All these men bring a bed roll and a small chair and sleep in hals like this. Here they are shown relaxing after a lunch. The time exposure of 10 seconds make it interesting as some people are moving and appear very ghost like and others are still. The hallway while it looks nice and bright here was very dim and dull.
Street Roses
While wandering the streets of San Miguel, Mexico looking for things to photography I came across this pile of roses sitting on the curb. apparently a woman was carrying these to her stall at the local market and decide to take a break. So I shot them. SHot with a Phase One IQ 180.
