One of the most visited areas in Copenhagen, Denmark used to be one of the grittiest. It’s known as Nyhaven an area where all the ships and seedy bars used be. Now it is the main tourist destination. I tried to put a little grit back into one of the more colorful areas of Copenhagen.

Man In Row Boat
This is a shot that I always liked and finally decided to post. It was shot in Buenos Aires which is an interesting place to visit. Lots of rust and abandoned ships and buildings. This guy was just rowing his boat up this extremely busy and dirty river. He had a mission and purpose. I messed with the image a bit and grunged it a bit. I love the way his face peeks out and the splash from his oar.
Antarctica Sunset
It seems that when you visit Antarctica you can point your camera in almost any direction and take a great photo. It is an overwhelming landscape. This shot was taken during one of the three hour sunsets and encompasses much of what i know Antarctica to be. Water, ice, icebergs and exceptional light.
Made You Look
It’s fun to make images that make you stop and look twice. Something to exercise the mind as it searches for a definition of what it is seeing. This image is kind of like that. What is it? What do you see? The answer- it’s shot from the top floor balcony of Water Tower Place in Chicago looking down an an atrium like setting. Kind of cool isn’t it?
London Bridge
I have been spending a lot of time with an ice pack around my shoulder later as I mend from surgery. Each day is getting a bit better. So, while sitting I use my iPad and sometimes mess around with images. Here is one I found from several years ago that I played with in SnapSeed. Enjoy.
Anchor
Make an anchor look good. I love objects that are peer of other, and I have been drawn to anchors after shooting some cool rusty ones in Argentina. I didn’t have to go far to shoot this image though. It was made in Saugutuck Michigan at and old lake passenger ship museum. Lots of very graphic elements at this ship. More to come soon.
So Copenhagen
I love Denmark and especially Copenhagen. I work for a Danish Company, Phase One and love the job. I get to work in a field i am passionate about, meet great people from all over the world and share our mutual passions – photography. Copenhagen is a magic city. You can practically walk the whole city and there is so much to see. This is a shot from a trip a year ago. Obviously I messed with it a bit but it kind of fun. I love the whole lion thing. Kind of like a fairy tale thing.
I don’t do recovery well. I am restless and want to get out. But my shoulder still hurts a lot and I don’t want to push my knee. I am doing what many of my friends have recommended and that is take it easy and take advantage of good drugs. So, I sit around the house reading, working on photos, doing some work, watching TV taking meds. I so much want to be out enjoying the day. I tell myself this can’t last forever.
Old Boat
One day while visiting Seattle I decide that everything I shot I would do in HDR. I also decided to do this technique with the gritty look. Needed to get it out of my system I suppose. So, this was shot of an old boat at a maritime museum with three different exposures. They were then blended in photomatix.
Old Lady In A Hurry
One things I enjoy doing is street photography. Shooting people and scenes while walking around a town or an area. This shot was made in Buenos Aires and is of an hunched over lady rushing up the street and on a mission. She was moving very fast. I liked the wall, color of her clothing and the packages she was carrying.
Trumpet
While visiting one of my more favorite places – Saugutuck Michigan, I make a trek to the Sunrise Junqe store. This is an mazing place to visit and I have been going to this place for years. It is off the Blue Star highway south of Saugutuck. It is set up so it is like an adventure in antiques and junk. A photographers paradise to say the least. I now have enough images to start a book on this place. This image is just a close up shot like the springs from yesterday. I messed with it a bit on the iPad to come up with this feel. Lots more from this place and I’ll post more over time.
