Funky Saturday

Funky Sunset - Olympic National Park, WA

I thought I’d put something different up today.  Just that kind of the mood I am in.  This is a landscape done on a beach near Olympic National Park.  It was shot with a Phase One P65+ and then worked as an HDR from one exposure.  The Phase One camera gives you close to 15 stops dynamic range so I was able to under and over process by two stops with ease.  Brought the images together in PhotoMatix and at that point the image looked very nice.  As a matter of fact I have some large size wall shots that look great.  I had the images in my iphone gallery and was on the plane ride back from Australia and was messing with images in Picture Show app and this one came out.  So, here it is.

Picture For A Cold Morning

The Gullet

Another cold morning here in Indiana.  Never thought I’d say this but thinking for of being a snowbird more everyday.  The last few days have been catch up days after returning from Australia.  So much to do.  I leave again on Monday for a road trip to FL for the holidays.  Will be nice to see family and kick back a bit.  This image was shot in Antarctica on one of my three trips there.  Lovely place and this was one of those magic shots.  There are tons of Antarctica images so you’ll see more.  This was taken in a place called the Gullet that not too many people get to visit.  It was one of those life changing days.  And, a lot warmer than it is here today.

Back To Boats

Boat Deck Seattle, WA

A few days ago I posted a photo done on a small boat.  From the same series I post this image.  The image was shot with a 5dII and then imported into my iPhone gallery.  Then one evening I was messing around with a new app (they are so addicting) and the end result is what you see here.  Light, shadow, angles and textures all work.  Hope you enjoy it.

More Like This Coming

As mentioned earlier the trip to Australia was real good. I have come back with many good images. The image above is a teaser of things to come. This a photo of an Aboriginal girl who posed for us in front of the Ayers Rock. This was shot with a P65. You can see the flies in here face and very sharp detail on her face. I’ll be making a large print of this one. Kind of a classic pose too. Hope you like it.

Australia Gum Tree

Gum Tree - Ormiston Gorge

Seeing how today I am now in Glen Helen in the middle of the Australia outback I thought an Australian photo would be in order. This image I loved when I saw it. A simple gum tree with its bright white bark set against the red cliffs in Ormiston Gorge.

I have set my blog to automatically post for the next few days as I will be out of touch bu phone and internet. It’s good to get away. You can also follow the workshop I am leading at THE PODAS BLOG.

Black and White Art

Sailboat In Seattle

Sometimes we forget the beauty of Black & White photography. This photograph was shot digitally and the converted to Black & White. I used several steps in Photoshop to give it this etherial look.  Hope you enjoy it. It was photographed in a harbor in Seattle.  It was a small sailboat at a maritime museum.

For the next several days the blog will be on Auto Pilot as I head into the Australia Outback. I should re-surface with internet connection next week on Monday. So until then enjoy the posting I have prepared.

Made It To Australia

The Queens MallAustralia is one very long flight from Indianapolis. Never the less I made it here. Usually this is Australian summer but today and yesterday it is mid-sixties with rain. So, I hoped to bring you photos from Sydney. That may have to wait. Today’s image is from the Queen’s Shopping Mall. One of the most elegant malls I have ever seen. They serve coffee in glass cups. Where do you see that in America. The place is decked out in Christams decor and looks great. I have a lot to do to prep for the upcoming workshop I am doing here so stay tuned. Maybe tomorrow I will actually have images of Sydney to show you. Don’t forget you can follow the workshop at www.podas.info
