Another From The Palouse

Like a lot of things in the Palouse homes and properties look worn down and abandoned. This is another example. However, the fronts of these building and the names on them are fake. These were used in a movine made in the Palouse a long time ago. I thought the image looked good in BW thus I changed to BW and a slight tonality.

This is a place I stop every time I visit the Palouse.  It’s in one of the many villages and towns that are half abandoned.  These two building were actually part of a movie set from many years ago.  They are abandoned and the names on the building never existed.

Being Square – Seeing Double – Silo City

This image was one of my favorites from one of my many Silo City shoots.  I try to make some normal places look different, and one way to do that is to use double exposures.  I created a film and lens combo on my iPhone in the Hipstamatic app to do just that.  Here’s the result.  This makes a beautiful print and I have sold a number of these.  Hope you like it.

American Flag Barn Of The Palouse

If you have been following this site, you know that the Palouse region is one of my favorites for taking photographs.  I do two workshops there every year in June, which is the ideal time to visit.  You can learn more about these workshops by checking out my Workshop Page.  This barn with the flag is iconic, and if you enter the Palouse going south from Spokane, you will see it on your right as you enter the region.  What makes this stand out is the amazing sky and clouds, which is another thing the Palouse is famous for.  I thought I would share this image in Color and BW.

Polar Bear On The Rocks

On one of my trips to Svalbard, our group was following polar bear along the shores and some rocks.  He was moving slowly and just wandering around while smelling.  Eventually, he just got tired and decide to sit on some rocks.  Doesn’t look very comfortable but he eventually fell asleep.  I have made prints of this image and converted it to gold leaf.  It.’s been a popular seller.

Wall In Mexico

When my friend Michael Reichmann was alive, I would visit him in Mexico, where he stayed during the winter.  He and I would go out photographing all over the place, and one day we found these ruins.  This is just a simple shot at those ruins.  It’s balanced and said something to me.  Short and simple.

The Black Church

I have visited this location dozens of times.  This is the Black Church in Iceland.  It’s a beautiful location, and I always have a peaceful feeling when I am there.  I thought I’d share a picture from the Black Church today.  There are more on this site, and I am working on some new ones.

Monument Valley

I have been doing a big project these last few months, going through all my images shot over the last decade and reimporting them into Lightroom, which is the RAW processor I am now using.  I made the switch to Lightroom a month or so back because I was unhappy with the direction Capture One was headed.  Lightroom has been a lot of fun to learn, and it offers a ton of features.  The new masking tools are quite extraordinary.  I came across these two images from one of my many trips to Monument Valley.  I’ll be posting more images from my new Lightroom journeys over the coming weeks.  I have also been playing with Black and White.  Some fun images coming from those explorations.
