So very now and then I get really deep into the photo apps on the iPhone and iPad, and I see how far I can take an image to be artsy. This is an image I shoot with a Phase One IQ180 in San Miguel, Mexico. I had the image in a gallery on my iPad and I just started using a bunch of apps and came up with this as a final. It’s a tree in a courtyard of a hotel that is half constructed and then abandoned. I will be leading a workshop in San Miguel this March for Phase One camera systems owners. London – Low Angle
I love London, but I love copenhagen, Barcelona and many more cities also. This shot was made in a small place where there are these array of small fountains. I played here for a while trying slow shutter speeds, longer lenses etc until I came up with this shot which I really like. So today here is LOndon Bridge and fountains.
A Different View
This is a shot of the Canyonlands outside of Moab. This is a pretty typical shot and a lot of people could take this shot. Fortunately for me that day this storm rolled in and I was shooting from the same height as the storm and thus I had these cool grey clouds on the top of my image yet sunshine in the canyon. This is one of a series of very dramatic pictures taken during a 15 minute window of the storm. Sometimes you get your best pictures in not so desirable condition.
Motor
Ok, let’s get away from landscapes for a day. This is just a simple shot of a really nice chromed out engine in a hot rod type of car. Messed with it a bit on the ipad, but it just kind of works.
Palouse Patterns
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME! I love to celebrate another year of life and living my passion and dream.
I have been accumulating a lot of images these last few months. I have enough to get me through nearly a half year of blogging. I am about to start researching and redesign of my web site. Looking at a few different options. Either way I am going to also start to play with 500px so expect to hear more on that soon.
Todays shot was made while flying over the Palouse. This area is amazing on the ground and even takes on a whole new feel from above. Patterns are everywhere and like many landscapes I like to shoot it is dynamic and chaining. This pattern is not there anymore, most likely plowed under within a few days of taking this image. Truly something photographed and remembered only with this image. How cool is that?
One Of My Favorites
This is one of my favorite shots. It was made in Australia which should be obvious on one of the PODAS workshops I lead. Ken Duncan who is a miracle worker in his own right asked this beautiful girl if she would be in our picture and she agreed. During the time I was taking this shot flies were buzzing around and she was looking uncomfortable. Then all of a sudden she just took this amazing pose and I shot it. Two seconds later she was looking somewhere else. Sometimes it just works, have patience.
Cinderella
Sometimes it is fun to break out of the norm and see how far in the other direction you can go. Thus today’s shot of Cinderella. I won’t say much about as it is more fun to look and see if you like it or not. None the less I had fun making it. Kind of different don’t you think?
More Ice
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
My first post of the new year and it is of ice, my new obsession, or so it seems. Why am I fascinated by ice? Because it is here today and gone tomorrow. It’s not a cliche like so many images of the grand canyon. Ice is in constant transition, usually the melting kind. This little iceberg was shot in New Zealand. I am sure that as the day went on it moved and melted and may have even turtled (which is roll over terms for icebergs). I have lots of ice pictures and through out this year you will get to see even more.
God Rays In Iceland
This was another image done at the Glacial Lagoon in Iceland. The sun was just right to create God Rays. Simple and effective.
Fun With The iPhone
This image was shot yesterday. The building is the Carmel (indiana) Perform Arts Center or Palladium as it is known. It’s a big new building that is quite nice and very expensive. None the less I have fun shooting it. On the way back from the store I pulled in and did a quick pano with my iPhone. Assembled it and like magic with PhotoStream it was on my iPad. I then worked the image a bit in a couple of apps to come up with this. Just a fun day and a bit of fun time messing around.
