It’s been a good few days of photography. We have been shooting with the new IQ 180 cameras and they are really something to work with. Features and an interface unlike any other camera. You’ll see more on this soon. This is a shot from Monday morning. Sorry the posts have been delayed, very busy shooting and bad internet connection. This was shot and one of the many arches in Arches National Park. It’s called windows and I shot ti from a number of angles and as the sun came up. On one of these trips you have to be willing to do a lot of early mornings. If you like to sleep then landscape photography might not be you gig.

Fisherman’s Shack – Newfoundland
A few years ago I explored Newfoundland with a group of photographer friends. Same group I have explored many places with and will spend next week with. Kind of a mancation with fellow photographers. Anyway there were lots of opportunities for some great shots in Newfoundland and this is one I like. Sometimes we believe we always need a sunny day to take pictures. Some of my best are on rainy and gray days. This was a gray foggy morning. It works.
Blue Ice and Water
Still getting my feet back on the ground. Amazing what ten days away can set you back on getting things done. This is an image I shot in Antarctica. Sometimes you just see the shot that is part of a much bigger subject. This is just a small portion of a large iceberg. I loved the way nature makes its own art and is evident here.
Las Vegas Spinning
I am back from the successful Death Valley PODAS workshop. Now it is catch-up time on many fronts. Todays image was made in the Las Vegas airport waiting for the plane home. Kind of puts a spin on the whole Vegas things.
The Devil’s Golf Course
Yes, that is what they call tis place. This was shot at sunset during the PODAS workshop. What a rip this has been. I have many keepers and will be busy editing and working on images for weeks ahead. I am off to MOAB in a few weeks then a short time later Ireland. Lots of images and lots of workshops. I will keep this short as I must pack and get to the airport for the flight back to Indy. Hopefully I’ll be back to my regular schedule of a picture a day this week.
Death Valley – Race Track
Quick entry as I am in Death Valley leading a Phase One PODAS workshop. It is a great group of people and we are doing a ton of photography. On Monday we visited the Race Track. More on this great place in future blogs. But for today enjoy the photograph. Please excuse me though for the shortness of this as I need to be up in four hours so we photograph the dunes. More soon.
Copenhagen Street
I love Copenhagen and love walking the city. The city has so much to offer. As a photographer one thing I enjoy is a form of photography called street photography. This was made famous by photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. He wandered the streets of cities shooting street scenes and became famous because of it. In my travels I make it a point to wander the streets of the cities I viist and shot the people and life. The image today was taken on a walking mall in Copenhagen. On every visit I make to Copenhagen I always see this same guy with a violin playing on the street. He always has a big smile and he seems to be everywhere. Anyway, this is a shot of him that says it all.
Road Trip
I am on a holiday road trip to Florida to visit with family. Always good to get together for the holiday. After being cooped up on airplanes so much the last few weeks (a round trip to Australia can pretty much guarantee you’ll want a break from planes), I decided to drive. I also decided that I will make a photo essay during the trip on Waffle Houses, the famous road side restaurant at almost every interchange. I have visited four Waffle Houses so far. I’ll assemble a small essay when I get home. Quite a slice of America.
Today’s images is a fun one. I like photographing rust and decay and how nature seems to re-claim it. This image was taken of the side of a rusted out train car (box car) and in the rust this plant had started to grow. I shot this with a Phase One P65+ and it was in one of my albums on the iPhone. I then used Picture Show and did a mirror effect of the image and the above image is what I got. I like symmetry and you’ll see more images like this over time.
