Your Carriage Awaits

Your Carriage Awaits

Near Saugutuck, Michigan there a cool antique store called Sunrise Junque.  I have been going there for years and will soon make a book from this interesting place.  Here’s a shot from a few years ago.  I think they go and buy old amusement park things as well as tons of other stuff.  They spread it all out and it is a photographers dream to shoot there.  Not to mention I have come home with some cool stuff over the years.

The Old Keys Bridge

Old Railroad Bridge, Key West, FL

Have you ever visited the FL Keys?  Interesting place for sure and even more interesting people.  Funny how the different ones drift off to places like the Keys.  The Fl, keys have just one main road and it will take you on a slow meandering drive to the southern most point in the US>   Key West is a small tropical type of town with tons of bars and interesting people.  You never know what you are going to see.  In the evenings at sunset there is the sunset festival and every night you can gather on the docks and be entertained by street performers sip a beer and watch the sunset.  Quite a lot of fun.  This image is a portion of the old railroad bridge that used to run all the way to Key West.

Cool Scooter

Scooter In Antique Store

A few weeks ago I enjoyed one of my outing with companion photographer Debra.  We try once a month to take a Sunday and go somewhere and just shoot pictures of what we find.  We come across abandoned buildings, funky stores and all sorts of other interesting things.  This shot was in a very cool antique store in a town we never heard of.  They had all sorts of cool stuff in a eerie of stores.  We spent nearly two hours there shooting.  I have published a shot previously of a bank safe hinge shot in one of the stores.  This is a cool scooter type bike on a shelf. I have a bunch more you’ll see soon.

Playing The What Is It Game

Rusty Chair or Muddy River

It’s fun sometimes to make photographs and have people guess what it is of.  This weekend I created a few of those and I will present thins this week.  Today’s image was made yesterday on one go my Sunday photo adventures.  Simply it’s get in the car head in a  direction and see what you find.  And, we found all sorts of cool stuff.  When I saw this image I had to shot it.   Being a rust guy I was all over it.  This is the back of one of those old chairs you’d put in your backyard.  As the paint peeled new rust formed and then rusted more paint off.  You can see the lines where all this happened.  However this could also be an aerial shot of a muddy river.  Hmmmm….fun isn’t it?

Waves And Ice

Iceberg and waves

One of the cool things about a trip to Antarctica is the sights you see when moving from one place to another.  what’s even better is if you are on a Russian boat with a crazy Russian captain who will take you up close to icebergs so you can get images like this.  Once again I say I like these images because they are not something you can go back and do.  They are not cliched.  I have some very cool and abstract images like this taken on these trips.

Everyone Loves Penguins

Busy Penguin

Today is the start of a great Sunday.  Going out shooting somewhere today.  This is the kind of day I just load my Jeep Cherokee with a tripod and cameras and start driving.  what will I find?  Where will I go?  Who knows.  As far as the picture for the day, well it is a penguin.  I came across this one when updating the new iPad.  Though it would be fun.  I have hundreds of penguin shots and I love them.  These little guys are always busy and seem to have a  mission.  This guy was off and running somewhere, totally focused on his mission.

Dirty Glacier

Glacier in Alaska

Funny, I always thought that glaciers were supposed to be all white and nice looking.  Apparently not.  This is a glacier in Alaska.  I loved the dirt in the ice as well as the mountains in the background.  Glacier and ice just fascinate me.  They are ever changing and from all the glaciers I have sen in the last few years, they are disappearing fast.

Ice and Iceberg

Iceberg, Antarctica

This iceberg has long since melter.  As we traveled through Antarctica we would come upon icebergs like this and we would ask our russian captain if he would circle the bergs so we could photograph it from all angles and he usually complied.  I liked this one because of the sky and blues as well as ice flow in front.  It also looks great in B&W.
