Another cold morning here in Indiana. Never thought I’d say this but thinking for of being a snowbird more everyday. The last few days have been catch up days after returning from Australia. So much to do. I leave again on Monday for a road trip to FL for the holidays. Will be nice to see family and kick back a bit. This image was shot in Antarctica on one of my three trips there. Lovely place and this was one of those magic shots. There are tons of Antarctica images so you’ll see more. This was taken in a place called the Gullet that not too many people get to visit. It was one of those life changing days. And, a lot warmer than it is here today.

Back To Boats
A few days ago I posted a photo done on a small boat. From the same series I post this image. The image was shot with a 5dII and then imported into my iPhone gallery. Then one evening I was messing around with a new app (they are so addicting) and the end result is what you see here. Light, shadow, angles and textures all work. Hope you enjoy it.
More Like This Coming
As mentioned earlier the trip to Australia was real good. I have come back with many good images. The image above is a teaser of things to come. This a photo of an Aboriginal girl who posed for us in front of the Ayers Rock. This was shot with a P65. You can see the flies in here face and very sharp detail on her face. I’ll be making a large print of this one. Kind of a classic pose too. Hope you like it.
I’m Back
I am back from the Australian adventure. It was a great PODAS workshop in Australia on so many levels. After the workshop Bruce Pottinger and I drove back to Sydney ona very long road trip across Australia. I got to see parts of Australia people don;t get a chance to see. In the coming days I’ll have photos from the trip and others as I get back into the groove here. In the meantime this si a shot of me photographing sunset at Ayers Rock with a glass of wine….very civilized.
Dolphin
Not one to be always literal I had some fun with this photo. This si a shot of a dolphin from an underwater viewing area. I loved the back lighting and ghostly feel. I shot this with a Canon DSLR and then worked it in Photoshop. It’s just one of those shots.
Hoover Dam Power House
A true engineering marvel is Hoover Dam outside of Las Vegas. I have visited Hoover Dam many times and decided on my last visit I was going to get artistic. I photographed with a Phase One camera the power generating room and then took it into Photoshop and applied effects through Topaz Simplify.
Red Stairs NY Times Square
No matter how many times I visit Times Square I always find a new way to photograph it. This is a shot I did uing the iPhone and an app called See This. So simple to use with some cool results. I think took the picture into PictureShow and messed with it until I got what you see.
Australia Gum Tree
Seeing how today I am now in Glen Helen in the middle of the Australia outback I thought an Australian photo would be in order. This image I loved when I saw it. A simple gum tree with its bright white bark set against the red cliffs in Ormiston Gorge.
I have set my blog to automatically post for the next few days as I will be out of touch bu phone and internet. It’s good to get away. You can also follow the workshop I am leading at THE PODAS BLOG.
Black and White Art
Sometimes we forget the beauty of Black & White photography. This photograph was shot digitally and the converted to Black & White. I used several steps in Photoshop to give it this etherial look. Hope you enjoy it. It was photographed in a harbor in Seattle. It was a small sailboat at a maritime museum.
For the next several days the blog will be on Auto Pilot as I head into the Australia Outback. I should re-surface with internet connection next week on Monday. So until then enjoy the posting I have prepared.
Made It To Australia
Australia is one very long flight from Indianapolis. Never the less I made it here. Usually this is Australian summer but today and yesterday it is mid-sixties with rain. So, I hoped to bring you photos from Sydney. That may have to wait. Today’s image is from the Queen’s Shopping Mall. One of the most elegant malls I have ever seen. They serve coffee in glass cups. Where do you see that in America. The place is decked out in Christams decor and looks great. I have a lot to do to prep for the upcoming workshop I am doing here so stay tuned. Maybe tomorrow I will actually have images of Sydney to show you. Don’t forget you can follow the workshop at www.podas.info
