This is an image made in Nevis Valley one of the many places we will be shooting over the next 6 days at the PODAS workshop. Check back often to see more images from this amazing trip and country.

An Afternoon Of Fun
I am in New Zealand as you probably know. We start a PODAS workshop on Monday and we have been doing prep work for the workshop. The gear arrived this morning and everything is in order. So, this afternoon Drew, Collin and myself headed out to take photos. We found lots of nice locations, and this image is one of the ones I liked best. We have a whole week coming up shooting incredible spots so keep watching for more.
New Zealand Sunrise
After nearly 30 hours of travel I arrived in New Zealand dead tired. So I crashed early and then awoke at 5AM to witness a beautiful sunrise. So I sat in my sweats and took photos from the deck of the house we are using in Queenstown.
The Journey To New Zealand Begins
I love going to all the great places that I can to photography. What I don’t like is airports and airplanes and the process of getting there. Today I start out my journey to New Zealand to host a Phase One PODAS workshop there. I start my journey in Indinapolis and fly to Detroit, from there to Los Angeles and then to Sydney and from sydney to Queenstown, NZ. That’s a lot of hours in planes and airports. I have done it before and will do it many times again. the iPad is loaded with books, magazines and TV shows I can catch up on. I have special drugs mixed with a view glasses of wine that will make time travel faster. And, fortunately I usually get off the plane and forget that I juts took the trip. It’s all worth it especially in NZ because I’ll shoot so many great places. So stay tuned, I’ll update the images here as often as I can.
Sunset At Stalker
So, I am back from an amazing weekend of visiting old friends and attending the 40th reunion of my high school graduation. It was so good to see everyone. Today’s image was made at Stalker castle in Scotland. I used the art effects on my Olympus OMD camera to produce this image.
Beam Me Up Scotty
This shot was made in Lower Antelope and depending on the time of year and time of day you may be lucky enough to get these beautiful rays of light that come through from the top of the canyon to the floor. Throw some sand in the air let things settle and shoot. This si what you get. If you are lucky. I have a lot of great beam shots in the slot canyons and here is one f them. Warning if you visit the crowds can be huge, especially Japanese tourists so let your guides hold back traffic and be ready to shoot quick. A tripod is a must. This was shot with a Phase One IQ180 camera and a 55mm lens.
Norwegian Ice
I am excited because I leave in a few hours for my 40th class reunion back in Wayne, PA. HArd to believe it has been 40 years. I’ll be meeting up with some old firefighting buddies and visiting some people I haven’t seen in a very long tome. Best of all I’ll be eating breakfast at my all time favorite breakfast place Joe’s Place. Three mornings of breakfasts there should do me for a while. Today’s image is from a glacier in Norway. Light and the color of the ice make it a beautiful image.
Sunrise In Palouse
I work for a great company Phase One and we make the best cameras and software in the world. Recently we released a new version of our RAW image processor Capture On 7. This new software is so good ( and I am not kidding) that I am going back and re-working some of the tougher images I have. And, C1 7 is kicking ass with these images. Here is one taken in the Palouse last year with an Iq180. I have another from the same morning I’ll post tomorrow. I can see a long winter ahead re-working many images. That is also equal to a lot of wine drinking.
More Stalker Castle
While in Scotland we witnessed an incredible sunset. I spent my time continually moving for different views during the tie we were there. This is an image converted to B&W for effect during the sunset. This may not be the last image you see of this castle.
BW Classic From Saugatuck, Michigan
A number of years ago I decided to head out for a weekend adventure up the west coast of Michigan. I thought I would shoot sleepy little villages and lighthouses. As I was driving up the Blue Star Highway I saw this ship off to my left. I stopped and shot it and have been doing so until last Summer when they took the ship to Canada to refurbish it and make it a museum. I also discovered a wonderfully peaceful town there Saugutuck. This is an artsy village with bed and breakfasts places, galleries and a unique charm. Put it on your must visit list.
