This year I missed Thanksgiving in the USA but enjoyed it down under in Austrailia. I am in Sydney now for a few days doing Phase One meetings and such and soon will be heading to New Zealand to lead the PODAS workshop there. I love Austrailia and the people. They are a lot of fun, always in a good mood and very accommodating to guests. On Thanksgiving my friend Bruce took several of us sailing and it is quite fun to sail in Sydney harbor seeing the opera house, sky line and the famous bridge. The shot above shows it all. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for more images from this trip.

Painted Tree
So, some nights when I have nothing to do I sit on the couch, put on some TV show and pick up my iPad. Last night I did just that and played with an APP on my iPad – Paintit Show. This is a slick app by Corel and all you do is load your images, select a style and away it goes. Lots of fun to watch and results are nice. This is one of the many I did last night that I like the best. Originally shot with a P65+ of a gum tree in Ormiston Gorge, Australia.
Ormiston Gorge
The Australia Outback . . . an amazing place with immense landscapes. This was photographed with a Phase One P65+ set in vertical position and stitched from 5 images. It’s just a nice image to view not to mention amazing place to visit.
A Little Infrared Fun
While on my trip to Australia I had the unique opportunity to travel across Australia on a multi-day road trip back to Sydney from the outback. Along the way my traveling buddy (mate as they say in Oz) stopped in at a place called Parkes. This is the location of a giant radio telescope. This was featured in a movie a while back called “The Dish”. We thought it offered some cool photo opps. So we took the Phase One Achromatic+ back (a 39 megapixel) BW digital back and using special filters and photographed the dish using infrared. This is a fun way to shoot as you are shooting reflected energy and not light. Hard to explain but the effects especially in landscape photography is pretty cool. Hope you feel the same way. More Like This Coming
As mentioned earlier the trip to Australia was real good. I have come back with many good images. The image above is a teaser of things to come. This a photo of an Aboriginal girl who posed for us in front of the Ayers Rock. This was shot with a P65. You can see the flies in here face and very sharp detail on her face. I’ll be making a large print of this one. Kind of a classic pose too. Hope you like it.
Australia Gum Tree
Seeing how today I am now in Glen Helen in the middle of the Australia outback I thought an Australian photo would be in order. This image I loved when I saw it. A simple gum tree with its bright white bark set against the red cliffs in Ormiston Gorge.
I have set my blog to automatically post for the next few days as I will be out of touch bu phone and internet. It’s good to get away. You can also follow the workshop I am leading at THE PODAS BLOG.
Made It To Australia
Australia is one very long flight from Indianapolis. Never the less I made it here. Usually this is Australian summer but today and yesterday it is mid-sixties with rain. So, I hoped to bring you photos from Sydney. That may have to wait. Today’s image is from the Queen’s Shopping Mall. One of the most elegant malls I have ever seen. They serve coffee in glass cups. Where do you see that in America. The place is decked out in Christams decor and looks great. I have a lot to do to prep for the upcoming workshop I am doing here so stay tuned. Maybe tomorrow I will actually have images of Sydney to show you. Don’t forget you can follow the workshop at www.podas.info
