I visited the edge of the world today. Way too tired to go into details. More images and details when I catch some time. Up at 4AM (which is 4.5 hours from now) and we are foo for another day of shooting. New Zealand is absolutely amazing.

Austrailia
This year I missed Thanksgiving in the USA but enjoyed it down under in Austrailia. I am in Sydney now for a few days doing Phase One meetings and such and soon will be heading to New Zealand to lead the PODAS workshop there. I love Austrailia and the people. They are a lot of fun, always in a good mood and very accommodating to guests. On Thanksgiving my friend Bruce took several of us sailing and it is quite fun to sail in Sydney harbor seeing the opera house, sky line and the famous bridge. The shot above shows it all. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for more images from this trip.
Death Valley Sunrise Take 121
Sunrises, what a way to start the day. The light is so dynamic and ever changing. On the workshops I lead we get up for sunrises everyday. No one complains as after a beautiful sunrise your day is a bit different in a very good way. This one was shot a few weeks ago in Death Valley in the Dunes area.
A Little Color Today
In only three days I head out for a 21 day trip that will take me to Australia and then New Zealand. I’ll be leading a photo workshop in New Zealand for PODAS (www.podas.info). So, it has been a busy week prepping all the details for this trip that should yield some fantastic images. I’ll try to post images here as time and internet connections allow. Todays image is from the Neon Boneyard in Las Vegas. It is colorful and arty. I like the simple composition. If you visit Las Vegas you need to take atour of this place. it is where all the old signs in Vegas go when they die.
Palouse Patterns
The Palouse is a beautiful place but takes on a whole different looks from the air. Today’s image was made from an airplane flying low in the Palouse to capture the texture and patterns of freshly harvested fields. This shot I love because of the dark brown colors from fields that were also just plowed. If you get the chance to go to the Plaouse make sure you take a one hour flight and you will be amazed.
The Harvest
On my recent trip to the Palouse of Washington state I came back with a ton of great images. I’ll rave about that area for a long time but it is truly a special place to photograph. This shot was done after driving along a ridge on a giant wheat field. here we found two harvesters dumping their load of fresh cut grain. I just like the mechanical and natural landscape all wrapped up in one shot.
Vegas Color
Las Vegas is a great city and there is so much there it can overwhelm your senses. Once a year on one of my many trips there I visit the Neon Boneyard and have fun shooting images there. This is one I did playing with color and angles. Sometimes it is just good to go out and use the viewfinder to put a frame around something and explore through the viewfinder. When you see something that works (like this) you shoot the shot.
Man – San Miguel
I have been looking at this image for a long time and it just keeps hitting me as a strong shot. Taken in San Miguel, Mexico while strolling the streets doing some street photography. The expression, clothing, color and light works well.
Industrial
It’s amazing how industrial areas can be so Terminator like intimidating. I was shooting with my friend Debra at a gravel quarry and there were all these machines, pipes, conveyors and everything else. The randomness of where everything went and the question of what they did was kind of scary. This shot kind of shows the feel of what I felt. The sky that evening helped things too. Shot with a GH2 and processed in CApture One and worked a bit on the ipad.
Simply The Palouse
I have been editing my images (thousands) from the trip to the Palouse a few weeks ago. I came across this one and I think it say and describes what the Palouse is all about. What a beautiful place.
