People say it is never nice in Scotland, but I would have to disagree.I think they say that to scare off tourists. When I was there a year ago it was glorious. This is an image made at sunrise there. Beautiful light, no wind, perfect.

Stalker Castle
I shot most of my images with the Phase One camera and digital back. However, I do have a few other cameras that I carry with me not to mention my trusty iPhone. This image was made on the Olympus OMD 5 using the dramatic art effect. I really liked it so I thought it would be fun to share. This is shot in Scotland at Castle Stalker.
Scottish Sunrise
Sorry, it has been a few days since my last post. I strive to a post a day but sometimes regular life and work are moving too fast . I am back on a more even keel and don’t travel again for about a week. Then I am off to Utah. That should be a great trip. This image I made in Scotland a few months back. On the last morning in Scotland we drove by this location that for whole week was so fog shrouded you couldn’t see 20 feet. then bam, the day was perfect, clear and still. This was one of those magic moments photographers love. I remember standing there as the sun came up, the shadows changed and just kept saying wow!
A Long Forgotten Church
Scotland had many great places to visit and I still have a list for my next visit. I returned with so many nice images. My shooting companion on this trip Steve Gosling and I spent a while at this church shooting. I wonder why it was abandoned so long ago? It had so many great spots to shoot. I even did a real nice PAno there. I’ll post that sometime in the future. I liked this shot looking up at the church and using the grave stones as a way to lead they eye into the shot.
Scotland
How do you describe what it is like to be a photographer in Scotland. It’s an amazing place and almost every time you turn your head you find a scene worth photographing. Being there this past fall we had great color and great light as can be seen in this stunning shot. This is one of the classic places to shoot in Scotland. Water, cold and a mountain.
Sorry, It’s Been A While – Scotland
Wow, I fel bad. I have tried to make a post everyday if possible and I have failed recently. Between extensive traveling and the Holidays, I just plain ran out of hours. well all that is behind me for new and I am going to try to get back on track. Also, I am working on a new look for this blog, so soon I hope you’ll see a new look.
Todays image was taken in Scotland. we were driving to one of the locations to shoot a castle and we saw this amazing light and fog happening. So, we pulled off the road and shot away. I like this as you can see the low clouds, water and color of the fall. We had amazing light during the trip and got some incredible images. I was warned that it was Scotland and we could have a week of rain. We were quite fortunate.
Sunset At Stalker
So, I am back from an amazing weekend of visiting old friends and attending the 40th reunion of my high school graduation. It was so good to see everyone. Today’s image was made at Stalker castle in Scotland. I used the art effects on my Olympus OMD camera to produce this image.
More Stalker Castle
While in Scotland we witnessed an incredible sunset. I spent my time continually moving for different views during the tie we were there. This is an image converted to B&W for effect during the sunset. This may not be the last image you see of this castle.
Time For Catch Up
I am home until the day after Thanksgiving them off to Philadelphia area for a 40th reunion. The years are stacking up. I am home for a day after that then catch a flight to New Zealand. The trip to NZ is along. But I have methods to deal with 28 hours of flying. Hope my iPad can make it. I can charge it on the plane. This image is one of many from Scotland. Castle Stalker done with some artistic flare.
Green Island Cemetary
One of the places w visited in Scotland was one of the oldest known cemeteries. We spent nearly two hours here after an 1.5 hour boat ride. Only way to visit this place is by boat. To say the place was surreal would be an understatement. It deserved the BW treatment. I’ll post some more interesting image from here in the near future.
