I shot most of my images with the Phase One camera and digital back. However, I do have a few other cameras that I carry with me not to mention my trusty iPhone. This image was made on the Olympus OMD 5 using the dramatic art effect. I really liked it so I thought it would be fun to share. This is shot in Scotland at Castle Stalker.

More Monument Valley
Here is another Black & White image from Monument Valley. Now that I am in some serious image editing I am discovering all sorts of jewels.
The Sky Is Bigger Out West
I travel many places as you probably know. I am always amazed how the sky looks so much bigger out west. Why is that? Here’s proof. Shot in Monument Valley. We were shooting for a while with beautiful blue skies. This is notwhat a photographer wants, we want nice puffy clouds. Then within ten minutes this cloud shows up. Our Indian guides said the called up the cloud god just for us. Is there such a god? The guides took credit for the clouds and I’ll take credit for this photo.
Heavy Smoker
While in China last week we were at a restaurant and I saw all these metal pipe like devise in a corner. I asked what they were and got a demo. You take a cigarette and place it in a small holder at the bottom. Then you take giant deep breaths through the pipe. You get a large lung full of air. And exhale. personally it would have knocked me out. Seems that certain heavy smokers enjoy this.
Two Women And The Fog
So while we were on top of this mountain in China I looked down the road and saw these two figures emerging from the fog. I started shooting them. They then stopped by a small pond and started to rake some items out of the pond and put these items in they baskets. They then continued walking. This shot was made as they began to disappear in the fog the same way they came out of the fog.
Lonely Tree
The last few weeks I have been in China leading a PODAS workshop. Interesting are to photography. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate much and we were stuck in the thickest fog I have ever seen. Actually we were in cloud as we were very high up on a Mountain in the Yusmnyang area of Southwest China. Never the less every now and then the fog would clear a bit and present some amazing images. This si a shot of a lonely tree with terraced fields in front as the fog opened up for just one minute. I opted for grain and BW to give more of the mood to the image.
A Long Forgotten Church
Scotland had many great places to visit and I still have a list for my next visit. I returned with so many nice images. My shooting companion on this trip Steve Gosling and I spent a while at this church shooting. I wonder why it was abandoned so long ago? It had so many great spots to shoot. I even did a real nice PAno there. I’ll post that sometime in the future. I liked this shot looking up at the church and using the grave stones as a way to lead they eye into the shot.
Sorry, It’s Been A While – Scotland
Wow, I fel bad. I have tried to make a post everyday if possible and I have failed recently. Between extensive traveling and the Holidays, I just plain ran out of hours. well all that is behind me for new and I am going to try to get back on track. Also, I am working on a new look for this blog, so soon I hope you’ll see a new look.
Todays image was taken in Scotland. we were driving to one of the locations to shoot a castle and we saw this amazing light and fog happening. So, we pulled off the road and shot away. I like this as you can see the low clouds, water and color of the fall. We had amazing light during the trip and got some incredible images. I was warned that it was Scotland and we could have a week of rain. We were quite fortunate.
Sunset At Stalker
So, I am back from an amazing weekend of visiting old friends and attending the 40th reunion of my high school graduation. It was so good to see everyone. Today’s image was made at Stalker castle in Scotland. I used the art effects on my Olympus OMD camera to produce this image.
More Stalker Castle
While in Scotland we witnessed an incredible sunset. I spent my time continually moving for different views during the tie we were there. This is an image converted to B&W for effect during the sunset. This may not be the last image you see of this castle.
