One very touristy place in Iceland is the Geyser. I ma not much for these kind of places, but none the less myself and friends visited this location. It erupts every few minutes and everyone enjoys it. This is the bubble a fraction of a second before it turns into a Geyser. Thought it was different and thus it has made the blog today.

A Little Color Today
One of my favorite places to visit when I am in Las Vegas is the Neon Boneyard. This is like a museum of old Las Vegas neon signs. So many things to shoot there and such great color.
The Washington Coast
Part of the Olympic National Park runs along the coastline of Washington. Much of it is hard to access and some require a bit of a hike. This shot though is available from a parking lot. The whole coastline from Washington south though Oregon is just an amazing place to take photographs. I’ll be doing a workshop in olympic National Park this september. This will be one of the places we go.
Stormy Palladium
Everyone knows the Palladium in Carmel, In. It’s part of the Perfroming Arts Center complex. The other day we had these magnificent clouds and I decided to give it a shot. Came up with this BW and a few good color images. I’ll publish some color images later this week. I like the look of the sturdy building with the storm clouds behind it. It was done with five exposures blended together on PhotoMatix and HDR program used to blend different exposures together. Fun stuff but can be too overused. I n a case like this it works great.
Man From San Miguel
I had a little fun last night. Couldn’t sleep so I selected a shot I had on my iPad and played around with it. I liked the effect and so here it is. I am not usually an effect kind of guy, but sometimes one must play.
No Smoking Allowed
This is a weird place. My friend Debra and I were out for an afternoon of Sunday shooting and came upon this scary place in Bedford, IN. Actually the whole town was kind of creepy. But, I saw rust and peeling paint so we had to explore and take photos. we got good ones here – close-ups of peeling paint and rust. I also found a number of other places in town that were great and scary. The smell of gas here, the rusted takes, the rotting hoses all gave this place an apocalyptic feel. I took the image into a few apps and enhanced that feeling even more. Wonder what happens when a place like this prongs a leak. The ground was oil soaked and smell of gasoline was everywhere.
A Bit More Rust
Pretty soon I will get back to posting the majestic landscapes again. However, today and for a bit longer I will stay urban. Today’s images is of a large oil storage tank and a run down fuel depot in southern Indiana. I love the rust, peeling paint and blue sky. So many contrasts. Enjoy.
Rust and Peeling Paint
If you are a regular follower of this blog you will know one of my favorite things to photograph is rust and decay. This past Sunday I was out on a photo adventure and ended up in Bedford, IN. Interesting and typical small Indiana town. Not being satisfied with just Main Street I drove down a side road that eventually took us to an industrial part of town. It was very surreal. Big old gas tanks with rust and peeling paint, junk yards, abandoned factories. All very strange and somewhat scary. Today’s shot was made of close ups of peeling paint on these giant fast tanks. I love the rust color and how the paint is curling as it peels off. I shot hundreds of these and they are all kind of beautiful in their own way.
It Was a Photo Sunday
Every now and then it is fun to go out and shoot on a Sunday. I set out with my photo buddy and friend Debra and set a target of Spring Mill State park. Never one to take the direct route I decided we would travel through some small Indiana towns. We visited a few towns but in Bedford, IN we made a right turn and just started driving and came into the industrial area of the town. Kind of creep and as I post more images you’ll see why. I could do a whole photo story on this town. We started out photographing rusty gas tanks, then rotting doors, then we stumbled upon this gigantic junkyard and it looked very apocalyptic. There were old cards, machines, and thousand of old military howitzer rounds. Then we found giant abandoned factories and some very different neighborhoods. In one neighborhood as we crossed the tracks we see this pickup just sitting in the grass, an old swing set and a sign next to the railroad tracks. Behind us was a house with kids toys all over that sat only six feet from the tracks. I shot an image above with the signs, truck and swing and then decided to enhance it a bit to give more the feel for what I was seeing there. I’ll be working on more images this week.
Big Boy Big Wheel
I love things with rust and I love thing engineered by man. I marvel at the way someone can design something on paper and then be made into a machine that works. This si a shot of a steam locomotive made in Snoqualimie, WA. I shot here for an hour isolating several things going in close and far away. Looking for the right balance of the elements to make a shot. This image is one that works for me.
