I will be in the Moab area through Friday this week. I have been to Moab many times and it is a very cool areas for photographers to visit. Amazing how many are right now. My goal this trip is to shoot things differently. Like yesterday I shot everything with a long lens. The picture above was shot with the NEW 240mm lens from Phase One on a Phase One DF+ camera and IQ180 back. Absolutely amazing image quality. I will be shooting all week trying different lenses and or different angles to give me images that others don’t usually shoot or see. Game on.

The Canadian Rockies
A few months ago I spent some time in the Canadian Rockies shooting and prepping for a fall workshop there. There is the main highway that runs south to north, then there is the side roads that always offer up surpasses. This was taken from a side road east of the rockies.
Scottish Sunrise
Sorry, it has been a few days since my last post. I strive to a post a day but sometimes regular life and work are moving too fast . I am back on a more even keel and don’t travel again for about a week. Then I am off to Utah. That should be a great trip. This image I made in Scotland a few months back. On the last morning in Scotland we drove by this location that for whole week was so fog shrouded you couldn’t see 20 feet. then bam, the day was perfect, clear and still. This was one of those magic moments photographers love. I remember standing there as the sun came up, the shadows changed and just kept saying wow!
Jökulsárlón – Iceberg Lagoon, Iceland
This another one of those images that you could probably never reproduce. It was shot at 2AM approximately and I was hanging around the iceberg lagoon shooting a ton of great images. Then the light came and boy did it come. I have a few dozen spectacular shots. Then it was gone , just like that. This was shot with a Phase One IQ 180 so the detail is amazing. I have a 4×6 foot image of one of the shots in this series in my office.
The Gullett
Wow, I have been re-cataloging my images and also re-working them in the NEW Capture One 7 software by Phase One. here is another Antarctica PANO. This was one of my most amazing days alive. Words can’t describe the beauty of this day and location.
Iceland Waterfall
If you have ever visited Iceland you know there are a lot of waterfalls. I like to make things look a bit different so I shot this waterfall in a way where you can’t see the top of bottom and what you get is nice water and great rock texture. I like this shot and the way it works.’
2nd Beach Re-Visited
One of the most photographed beaches on the west coast is second beach in Olympic National PArk. It’s a short hike to the beach and once there you’ll understand why so many people shoot it. I wanted to try and get somethings a bit different. I placed the rock in the foreground and as the sunset, I made some captures. I knew I wanted to catch the waves in a particular way. I also knew that since I was shooting a Phase One IQ camera I would have a wide enough dynamic range retain details in highlights and shadows.
Scotland
How do you describe what it is like to be a photographer in Scotland. It’s an amazing place and almost every time you turn your head you find a scene worth photographing. Being there this past fall we had great color and great light as can be seen in this stunning shot. This is one of the classic places to shoot in Scotland. Water, cold and a mountain.
Deer Park Sunrise
I have been in New zealand for a week now and just taking amazing images. Looking forward to sharing more as the weeks go by. This image was made at sunrise in Deer Park. An area used to make many of the Lord Of The Rings movies. Just incredible colors.
New Zealand Land Of Beautiful Light
We are on our second day of the PODAS workshop in New Zealand. We have a great group of attendees and instructors. Best of all we have had the most incredible sunsets and sunrises that I have experienced in quite some time. We are shooting so much cool stuff. If you are not a friend of mine on FaceBook please just type my name into the search menu and become a friend. That way you can see posts as they happen. Also, visit the PODAS blog at www.podas.info and see our workshop as it happens.
