Factory

I went for the monthly Sunday drive with Debra my companion in photography and more on Sunday and our goal was to find old Indiana Limestone quarries near Bloomington.  Mission was a success but many were chained and blocked so we couldn’t get in.  I did find some cool images though like the one above.  We intend to call and get permission to shoot in a few of these places as the environment was image rich.  We also decided to wait to cooler weather.

Street Music

Holland Michigan – Music Man

Back in the spring I visited Holland, Mi to shoot the tulip festival and especially the tulips.  It was kind of a bust as the early spring had forced the tulips to bloom early.  So we spent the time there to explore the town and back roads and found lots of fun things to shoot.  We happened upon this guy who was a one man band on the streets of Holland.  Look for more Michigan photos in coming days.

Crooked Houses

Crooked Houses

I love wandering different antique markets, stores and wherever else looking for the unusual.  What I find is usually something rusty and maybe colorful.  This was at a small antique store near Saugatuck MI.  I used my iPhone and shot this with Hipstamatic.  Tight cropping and colors work.

Copenhagen

Entrance To Tivoli, The place that inspired Disney

As I said in my last entry I was headed to Copenhagen.  Well, I am in Copenhagen and I have been pretty slammed with meetings and such.  A lot to cram into a week at Phase One.  So, postings have been nonexistent but I will catch up.  So, other than a mermaid sitting on a rock what other iconic places are there in Copenhagen?  Tivoli of course.

Picking

Guitar Picking, Broadripple, Indiana

Last night had the chance to visit a basement bar in Broadripple, a trendy area of Indianapolis.  There was this band made up of a bunch of old guys.  (Yes, I am an old guy too).  and, they were just having the time of their lives playing music as if they have been doing it together for 50 years.  I had a great time shooting the evening and thought I would post a more artsy shot of picking on the guitar.  Just a damn cool night all round.

Tulip Day

Tulip, Holland, Michigan

Every now and then I like to switch things up a bit.  I visited the Tulip Festival as I try to do every year in Holland , Michigan.  This year it was not so great, cold, rainy and most of the tulips had already lost their leaves due to an early spring with warm weather.  None the less I found this guy in a flower box in town.  Color and rain drops as well as the flowers behind make it work. Good way to start the day.

I Just Needed To Shoot This

Flower On A Cafe Table in Iceland

I have been up since 2:30 AM in Iceland, because there is always light and we were going to shoot some early morning light photos. Who were we fooling?  We drive all over this Peninsula, it is pouring down rain and the winds are blowing 50 plus MPH.  Quite a day.  Now I am like a junkie I need my fix, I need to shoot something.  We stop at a small hotel with a cafe and the owner brews us some of the finest coffee there is.  Sitting at the table overlooking the ocean with giant waves and things that fly by the window once in a while I get more depressed as it looks like I might not shoot anything all day.  Then I see a flower on my table.  I say oh yeah…and I get my iPhone out.  switch it on to Hipstamatic, switch to a BW setting I like and shoot 6 pictures of this flower.  Ahhhh, I feel better now and I actually had a photo I liked.  So, there is always a way to get a fix, you just sometimes need to see what is front of you.

I’m Back

Hiking Hut and Outhouse, Iceland wilderness

I am now back from a super trip to Iceland and will try to catch up with the blog posts here.  I have so many images to share not too mention fun stories.  Iceland is such a beautiful place.  No matter where you look there is something gorgeous.  This shot was made with fellow photographers Drew, Peter, Steve and we were traveling a rough road out to the snow fields.  Yes it is summer here but plenty cool and snow there.  I love it.  This is a hiking hut and outhouse.  Kind of looked cool in BW and with the outhouse as a g=foreground.
