In less than 24 hours we will begin our PODAS workshop on the True North in the Kimberley region of Austrailia. This will be an amazing adventure. Here is the True North at dock prepping for our trip. We won’t be able to post much during the trip. Here is the link to the True North Facebook page. Since I Am In Australia
I have visited Austrailia a number of time and just love the country. So many beautiful things and some of the nicest people on the planet. This shot was made while waiting for a sunset at Ayers Rock. We got one of the local girls to pose for us. This is Austrailia.
Just Love This
I have been working this week on prepping for several Antarctica trips. One this year, one next year and two in 2015. As I was working I came acorss this image which is one of my favorite shots of icebergs. So enjoy.
Looking Up At Church
While visiting Tuscany I loved visiting churches. These are usually very old structures and they have some very unique settings. This is a church I visited in a small village that had the crucifix hanging from the ceiling. And, when you looked up you got an incredible backdrop.
Streets Of Sienna
I have fallen in love with Tuscany. As a photographer I could spend weeks there visiting and exploring villages and eating great food and drinking fine wine. Quite the place to kick back and relax. This is is image of one of the many old streets in Sienna, Italy.
Whale Oil Tanks In Antarctica
One of the coolest places to visit in Antarctica is Deception Bay. You have to go through this narrow channel to get there and you basically go inside what was once a volcano. Now it is a giant bay and years ago whalers used this area as a place to harvest their whale catch. There are stories that there was so much blood from butchering the whales that the whole bay turned red now it is long abandoned, There was a volcanic eruption not too long ago and much is buried. What you can’t bury are these rusted old whale oil tanks. I love rust and including them in this landscape.
Off On Another Adventure
I leave tomorrow for another adventure This time to Kimberley, Austrailia where I will be hosting 30 plus photographers on the True North cruise ship to do a photographic expedition into this amazing part of the world. Read about what we have planned by CLICKING HERE. Of course preparing for a trip like this takes lots of planning not to mention high end gear. Read about what is my bag at the LUMINOUS-LANDCAPE web site. Once I return I’ll have a ton of images to share. In the mean time please keep visiting. I’ll set posting up to be done automatically for a while.
Tuscany Sunset
Here is another Tuscany image. I promised a lot of Tuscany pictures. This was made from a distance with a 55mm lens on a Fuji X-Pro. It was a nice evening for a sunset. Earlier in the day I shot the chapel that is in this image close up.
Woman Begging
This is a controversial image made in San Miguel, Mexico. It’s not uncommon there to find women begging on the street like this. It’s hard to take and see. The image has gotten criticism because some people thought I was exploiting the woman or not showing repeat. My answer is as a photographer I document things. Good and bad and try to tell a story. This picture tells a thousand stories and say a lot. The face makes the shot. WHat kind of stories could she tell us? What is her story? If the picture makes you stop and think, then mission accomplished.
Wall Of Ice
There is no experience that comes close to the travels in Antarctica. For example todays image above was made as our expedition ship cruised within 20 feet of a massive iceberg. I just point my camera towards the iceberg and got shots like you see above. Incredible design and you could see where melting and freezing played a part in making htis very unique.
