I work for a great company Phase One and we make the best cameras and software in the world. Recently we released a new version of our RAW image processor Capture On 7. This new software is so good ( and I am not kidding) that I am going back and re-working some of the tougher images I have. And, C1 7 is kicking ass with these images. Here is one taken in the Palouse last year with an Iq180. I have another from the same morning I’ll post tomorrow. I can see a long winter ahead re-working many images. That is also equal to a lot of wine drinking.

Having Fun
Who says you can’t have fun with your images. This is a shot that was nice in cold. The red barn stood out though. So, why not make it stand out more. I masked the barn and desaturated the background. Now it is a bit different, but never the less fun.
Simple Does It
Sometimes it is best I don’t write a lot but just let you enjoy what simple good composition can do to make a nice image. Shot in the Palouse area of Washington state. Same place as the truck image from the previous post.
Truck In A Barn
One of my favorites spots in the US to shoot is an area called the Palouse. It’s Located in SE Washington and consists for rolling farmland. Yeah, I know farm land, sure how can that be so great? The area is surreal, beautiful old barns, immense skies and all sorts of surprises. The season in late May to early June is planting time. This si where the fields are being plowed and planted. The landscape if dynamic. Then in late August the harvest takes place and it even more dramatic. You can use the cloud tags below and click on Palouse to see more images. This shot is of an old truck found in a barn there. Abandoned near as I can tell in the late 1940’s. Pristine condition, no vandalism and just waiting to be photographed. From the ton of images I did there this one kind of tells the overall story.
Old Truck
The Palouse, you have heard me speak about it many times before. Lots of old and abandoned things in the Palouse, hoes, cars and trucks. This is one of those trucks. I found this in the back of an old gas station. The gas station sits on this gentlemen’s farm and he restored it to look like the old ones that were seen across America. This person collects old cars and trucks and has dozens on his property. This one is an old GMC and caught my eye and the lens of me camera. Color, rust and symmetry. Some good elements.
Palouse Patterns
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME! I love to celebrate another year of life and living my passion and dream.
I have been accumulating a lot of images these last few months. I have enough to get me through nearly a half year of blogging. I am about to start researching and redesign of my web site. Looking at a few different options. Either way I am going to also start to play with 500px so expect to hear more on that soon.
Todays shot was made while flying over the Palouse. This area is amazing on the ground and even takes on a whole new feel from above. Patterns are everywhere and like many landscapes I like to shoot it is dynamic and chaining. This pattern is not there anymore, most likely plowed under within a few days of taking this image. Truly something photographed and remembered only with this image. How cool is that?
Simple IS Better….Happy Christmas Eve
Sometimes when you photograph things you may find simple is better. This is classic cue of simple. Grass, sky and a cloud. Shot it the Palouse one of my favorite places for doing landscapes with a P65+ camera. Amazing detail and simple composition.
Palouse Patterns
The Palouse is a beautiful place but takes on a whole different looks from the air. Today’s image was made from an airplane flying low in the Palouse to capture the texture and patterns of freshly harvested fields. This shot I love because of the dark brown colors from fields that were also just plowed. If you get the chance to go to the Plaouse make sure you take a one hour flight and you will be amazed.
Old Truck
Well, I am back from Death Valley and in less than a week leave for Austrailia and New Zealand. Things are moving fast. I have a ton more Death VAlley images that I need to work on. So, today you get a break and w ego back to the Palouse and an old truck in the field. The Palouse had a lot of photo pops like this. You just drive around and find old homes, cars, tractors and trucks that just one day were parked and never moved again.
The Harvest
On my recent trip to the Palouse of Washington state I came back with a ton of great images. I’ll rave about that area for a long time but it is truly a special place to photograph. This shot was done after driving along a ridge on a giant wheat field. here we found two harvesters dumping their load of fresh cut grain. I just like the mechanical and natural landscape all wrapped up in one shot.
