Two Hours In Vegas

Neon Boneyard - Las Vegas

I met up with one of the attendees of the PODAS workshop in Vegas today and we went to the Neon Boneyard. It was a hot 100 degree day. Funny as it was in the 30’s when I left Indy. In any case we had a fun time shooting the old neon signs of Vegas. Lots of colors and such. So, I decided to take the color out and make an image that might make you take a second look. Hope it works. I like it.

The Stairs

Stairs - San Miguel - Mexico

Continuing with Mexico shots I present another image from the abandoned hotel.  This is a set of stairs basically going no where.  It was made with 5 exposures and brought together in Photomatix and then post processed on the iPad.  Amazing what you can do with your photographs these days.  I really liked the feel and the way this flows.  Let me know what you think.

The Room

Room - San Miguel, Mexico

While in San Manguel Mexico my friend Michael Reichmann and I explored an abandoned hotel.  Apparently they were building this nice hotel only to discover it was too close to a dam and if the dam burt the hotel would be gone.  So, they just stopped building it.  I shot this with the GH2 in HDR mode.  Then took the image into a few iPhone apps then output finished a few things in PhotoShop and here you have the final image.  This was a room off to the side and it just caught my eye.  Read into it what you may.

A Little Bit of Mexico

It has been a busy week.  I started in Chicago doing scouting and set up for the July PODAS Architecture Workshop.  followed that up visiting schools and doing a Phase One IQ rollout.  Got back to Indy, changed suitcases and was headed to Atlanta for a few days at the SPE – Society Of Photographic Educator conference.   all of it was buys and a lot of Phase One business.  All good.  Now I am back in the office for a week doing follow-up as well as prep work for the Death VAlley workshop as well as Ireland workshops coming up soon.  Then on Sunday I attended a workshop held by my friend Harry Sandler on iPhone Photography.

Today’s shot was made in Mexico on a recent trip there in San Miguel.  I did this with a  Panosonic GH2 which is a great street shooters camera.  I love shooting people on the street and this is a good shot of a local. I’ll be using the GH2 for upcoming blog images for the PODAS workshops.  It does great videos too.

An Afternoon In San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Nun

I made a recent trip to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, to meet up with my friend Michael Reichmann of www.luminous-landscape.com. I brought with me the NEW Phase One IQ180 digital back that he was doing an initial review on.  So, since he had my back he gave me a new camera he just got a Lumix GH2.  This was a small 4/3 DSLR and highly sought after.  We took a walk in the streets of this beautiful mexican town.  And, while Michael shot with the Phase One IQ180, I shot with the GH2.  This turns out to be an amzing little camera great for street photography.  I decided to break with the one picture a day theme and today post a gallery of my few hour walk through San Miguel.  I lead off the gallery with this photo of a nun which I find just illuminating. The rest of the images are the result of a visual exercise of just seeing.  All images were shot RAW and worked on in Capture One 6.x,  I hope  you enjoy.

By the way I have now purchased the GH2 with 3 lenses and have been having some fun with it.  I plan to sell my Leica M8 system and use this for much of my street shooting and candid type of work.
