The Palouse looks absolutely beautiful from the air. As part of the PODAS workshop attendees were given the option to do Palouse fly overs. There is atonally different look for the wire. This image is a great example of patterns and contrast that is part of the Palouse from the overhead perspective.

Red Barn
Red Barn, so simply Palouse again. Hundreds of red barns in the Palouse. This one works because of the light, the grain in the background and just the way it is placed in the frame.
Old Truck
The Palouse is full of old trucks. Vary rarely though do you happen to find a garage where you find an old 1940’s vintage truck just siting there like it was parked yesterday. This one place I found was completely untouched with magazines dating to 1945. Kind of amazing it has lasted this long. Anyway I took a lot of images in this garage. This is a shot where I worked on it a bit to make it feel older. I hope to soon be sharing some of the dramatic landscape images.
Chicago Building
Working for Phase One I host and lead photo workshops all over the world. During our recent workshop PODAS we concentrated on Architecture Photography. We shot a lot of building and this is one of them. I like the composition with foreground as well as the reflection. It was shot with an IQ180 (80 megapixel) camera and perspective was corrected in Capture One. Then I played a bit with the image on the iPad before publishing here.
Chicago Dawn
Good morning! On PODAS workshops you can count on rising early to shoot the special light of dawn. This shot was done a little over a week ago while we waited for a sunrise to illuminate the Chicago skyline. It’s a pretty nice shot in color but I thought BW added some drama to it. This was shot from the Shed aquarium area. Good place to catch to city skyline.
Self Portrait In Chicago
I have been to Chicago many times and have enjoyed it tremendously for all the photo opportunities it offers. Never though have I come back with so many real keepers of Chicago. The last several days as I have been leading a PODAS Architectural workshop in Chicago has been fantastic. First, the people participating in the workshop were exceptional. The instructors were great and the weather was just right. It was pretty magical. You will see a lot of photos over the coming days from this trip. Today’s image was a self portrait made inside the Bean. Kind of sur-real but pretty cool too. You can see more of the fun we had at this workshop at the PODAS BLOG – Click Here.
Chicago Sky On Fire
I am in Chicago until Tuesday hosting a photography workshop on Architecture Photography. We have been having a blast shooting some beautiful sights and buildings. You can follow our adventures at THE PODAS BLOG. This was shot done two nights ago. We had a magic twenty minutes where everything just lit up and the sun did wild things. This was made with the iphone and then finished off in the iPad. Didn’t do much except add a frame. It was just one of those magical moments. I have so many good images from this trip. We did some dawn and sunset shots of the Chicago skyline as well as a number of very cool images. I’ll post more as I can over the coming weeks.
The Bean
If you get up early enough you photograph the Chicago Bean without any other people messing up the shot. Then get a little creative in post processing and you can get a cool image. I am in Chicago doing a PODAS workshop on architecture. You can follow the workshop here.
Dunlow Gap Ireland
This PODAS workshop is going extremely well. Ireland is amazing except for their roads and crazy drivers. Not to mention the steering wheel is on the wrong side and you drive on the wrong side of the road. Add to that I am driving a stick and have to shift with my left hand. In any case we are taking great images but not sleeping. Went to bed at midnight and was up by 3:30 to get to the Dunlow Gap in time to shoot the image above. You can also see more images from the Dunlow Gap at www.podas.info . We have several more days on shooting in Ireland. A new image tomorrow.
Bridia Valley Ireland
This is a short post as I have just a few minutes before heading out to the next part of our PODAS adventure in ireland. This shot was made last night in Bridia Valley, Ireland. It’s a simple shot made with a Phase One IQ 180 on an ALPA camera with a 23mm lens. Just works. Visit www.podas.info for more images.
