The Bridge

I have traveled the highway to Key West many times.  There is only one 2 lane road.  US Route 1 and it is always an adventure if you allow it to be.  The road is one of those that seems to go on forever and last forever especially if you get behind a slow driver.  I found that you can’t be in a hurry and as a photographer you have to be willing to get off the highway and explore the side roads.  There are gems everywhere if you try to find them.

This image was made by pulling off the highway where the old railroad bridge is.  Luckily, there were some folks fishning to add the human element.  I liked the design and the receeing lines created by the bridge as it fades into the horizon.

I have been converting my Capture One Catalogs to Lightroom Catalogs and in doing so I’m revisiting many of those images that I have seemed to forget.  It’s a great excercise and I recomend everyone go back to their old files and look for fogotten images.

The Old Keys Bridge

Old Railroad Bridge, Key West, FL

Have you ever visited the FL Keys?  Interesting place for sure and even more interesting people.  Funny how the different ones drift off to places like the Keys.  The Fl, keys have just one main road and it will take you on a slow meandering drive to the southern most point in the US>   Key West is a small tropical type of town with tons of bars and interesting people.  You never know what you are going to see.  In the evenings at sunset there is the sunset festival and every night you can gather on the docks and be entertained by street performers sip a beer and watch the sunset.  Quite a lot of fun.  This image is a portion of the old railroad bridge that used to run all the way to Key West.

Key West Sunset

Every few years I manage to get down to the Keys and especially Key West. Yesterday I visited Key West with two friends and enjoyed a day of wandering the streets, eating ice cream drinking beer and celebrating sunset. Key west is an odd place with its own charm. There is plenty to do and lots of partying after dark. Each day at sunset there is a sunset celebration on the wharf and it is quite an event. There are street performer acts with cats, knifes, fire, and escape artists. Fun to watch. And, while all this is going on folks are drinking and watching for the green flash, which by the way we all saw last night. This is a shot I did during the sunset. Nothing too spectacular but it is sunset in Key West.

Gone Fishing

Fisherman Key west, FL

Key West, FL on a morning walk shooting photos I came across this guy standing in the water fishing.  I couldn’t resist the photo and took a series of shots.  This was done  with a long lens from a higher perspective so there was no horizon in the shot.  I just love the way it feels and looks and has been a longtime favorite of mine.
