So what did you do this morning? On this PODAS workshop during the morning of June 4th we woke up for a sunrise shoot as the True North cruised the Prince Regent River. We had coffee the Eggs Benedict on the bow of the ship. Then we turned a corner and saw these amazing waterfalls the King Cascade. The Captain then drove the boat into the falls and anyone that wanted to and there were a number of hearty souls were able to take a falls shower. Of course we had the Phase One cameras and waterproof housing as well as a lot of people taking photos of us. It was a blast. Then we got into the tenders and some people climbed to the top of the waterfalls and others went ashore to shoot the waterfalls and some of us went crocodile hunting (photography wise). That was followed by morning tea with tasty scones. Then some went on the helicopter to shoot rock art, and some went fishing. And, all of this was before lunch. What an incredible trip so far. What amazing images all of us are getting. Lots of fun. And now it is lunch time.

Since I Am In Australia
I have visited Austrailia a number of time and just love the country. So many beautiful things and some of the nicest people on the planet. This shot was made while waiting for a sunset at Ayers Rock. We got one of the local girls to pose for us. This is Austrailia.
Australian Gorge
In the outback of Australia near Glen Helen there are a number of gorges. These are incredible oasis like places where there are streams running into pool like areas with trees and cliffs surrounding them. This is one of the gorges which I believe is called Ormiston Gorge. shot with a Phase One IQ16o camera.
Australia Outback
One of the most amazing places I have visited has been the outback in Australia. When I visited we a place and stayed at a small post called Glen Helen. From there we ventured off into the bush. This was hot in the bush as they would say. I loved the way it turned out in B&W. The trees are gum trees. Shot with a Phase One IQ 180.
A Peaceful Morning
The Australian Outback is a beautiful yet extremely remote place. A lot of it is just flat bush and almost desert like. But if you know where to look you find these kind of places. Google – Glen Helen. near Glen Helen there are a number of gorges where you find beautiful scenes like this. Shot with a Phase One 60 mega pixel camera.
From Australia
Really I am in Copenhagen but this image is from Australia. I have had the pleasure to travel to the outback of Australia and through the assistance of Ken Duncan, well know Australian photographer got to visit an aborigine community. I was fortunate enough to do a number of portraits and this is one of them. Their face tell so many stories. Their eyes are so black. Just very interesting people and most gracious. If you get the chance to visit the outback it is an amazing place.
Portrait From Aboriginal Community
On one of the PODAS workshops that I lead we visited the outback of Australia. It was an amazing trip with amazing instructors. We had the chance to visit an Aboriginal community. this is one of the many portraits we did there. These were very interesting people. Friendly and welcoming. Their faces were amazing, their eyes blah and recessed. It is amazing to visit a place like this and see how these folks live and understand better what they believe in and their history.
Some Where In Australia
This shot I found while going through my digital albums and I would have by passed it most likely but I kept coming back to it. This is an opal mind in the middle of no where Australia. Driving back from Red Center we were going down one of these roads where you could tie the steering wheel down and read a novel. Long and straight. All along this long stretch were old machines and piles of dirt. I learned that this is an opal mining areas. So, eventually we stopped so I could be the tourist and this is what I saw. The sky was dramatic and colors and landscape kind of strange. It’s like a tourist trap but no one was there. Anyway it was pretty cool to learn how they mine opal and see such a landscape.
One Of My Favorites
This is one of my favorite shots. It was made in Australia which should be obvious on one of the PODAS workshops I lead. Ken Duncan who is a miracle worker in his own right asked this beautiful girl if she would be in our picture and she agreed. During the time I was taking this shot flies were buzzing around and she was looking uncomfortable. Then all of a sudden she just took this amazing pose and I shot it. Two seconds later she was looking somewhere else. Sometimes it just works, have patience.
