I am in the dolomites, Italy for a week leading a Phase One PODAS workshop. The weather today was beautiful and yielded this picture postcard definition of what the Dolomites is all about. expect to see plenty more as we get deeper into our week of shooting this amazing landscape.

Glacier Front
I saw this while we were cruising in Zodiacs along a face of a glacier in Svalbard, Norway. This shows sediments that over the ages has seeped into the glacier. I loved the stark contrast.
Iceberg And Glacier
This shot was made in Svalbard Norway on my recent Arctic Adventure. we were cruising this bay where a few glaciers were ending. Also, we were searching for Polar Bears. When we cruised by tis piece of ice in our Zodiacs, I had to ask the driver to go around a time or two. I finally saw the image in my viewfinder and fired away. I think I captured the essence of the iceberg as well as the big glacier behind it with the kind of light that we were experiencing at the moment. I really like this one.
Lots Of Ice
This is a shot from far away showing the from of the ice cover (ice Pack) on an Island of Svalbard. This is massive and goes all the way to the horizon. Look closely (click to enlarge) and see all the waterfalls coming off of the ice. Quite an amazing experience to see this.
Number 99
This is a motorcycle with a story. And, you will have to visit Jerry, see previous post a day or so ago to learn the story. I have a few other shots made of the displays Jerry has in his shop and you’ll see them sometime soon.
Jerry
On my Sunday drive we stumbled upon Sheridan, IN. Very interesting town in so many ways. A photographers dream too as I made a series of good images there. We found the Vintage Motorcycle Supply store and it was open. The Owner Jerry Ficklin was a real nice guy with a lot of stories to tell. Debra and I photographed in the store for well over an hour listening to Jerry’s tales and just having fun. I’ll definitely visit Jerry again. Count on seeing more images from his store too. Shot was made with the Nikon D800e and wide angle lens.
Sunday Drive Franfort, IN
Every now and then my friend Debra and I get in the car on a Sunday morning and decide if we are going to go North, South East or West. Once decided we head off to that direction with the ipad for mapping and we target backroads and small towns. We are looking for the unusual, the abandoned, the rusty and the interesting people that present themselves alone the way. There is a lot of “did you see that?”, or “stop”, “turn around”. Last Sunday was a gold mine for us as we visited a few towns within driving distance of home. This image was made a gigantic train yard that has seen its better days in Franfort, IN. This old abandoned train round house. I like this image as it kind of shows loneliness and the clouds and BW treatment add to the drama. More images will be coming form this train yard.
Train Car
Once again I share an image made at the Indiana Transportation Museum. This is a fun place to shoot at and I am there often. This is a shot of one of the train cars in the yard. I Raberized it a bit in Capture One. I also used the perspective tool in Capture One to correct the view so it looked straight.
Trains Trains
Here is another train shot made shooting between two old box cars. Tried once again to present a different look that would accent the rust and colors and drive the eye to someplace different.
Back To Trains
After a few Canadian picture days I decided it was time to come back to the good ole USA and to my train project. Here is another from the Noblesville, IN train yard. Shot with a Nikon d800 and 70-200mm lens I compressed the image and then used a single image tone map in NIK software to get the look I wanted.
