Sometimes the light gods watch over you. This image was made on a trip back from Beatty, NV. This is a small town of about a 1000 people living in the absolute middle of no where. More on Beatty in another post sometime. As I was returning to Death Valley I looked west and saw these clouds. I pushed it and crested the top of the mountain and looked down in the valley back to Furnace Creek and this is what I was greeted with. It was made with a 28mm lens on an IQ180 Phase One camera. Sometimes you just luck out.

Tree In New Zealand
New Zealand is full of surprises and most of them make great photography opportunities. This was just on of those cases. We were exploring a valley and came across this old stone wall with a tree at the end. This image was made with a 28mm lens on a Phase One IQ180.
Beautiful Scotland Day
People say it is never nice in Scotland, but I would have to disagree.I think they say that to scare off tourists. When I was there a year ago it was glorious. This is an image made at sunrise there. Beautiful light, no wind, perfect.
In Moab
Moab is a town you stay in and all around Moab are one of the country’s largest areas to shoot pictures. Amazing images abound around every turn. This is a photographer’s paradise as when the light decides to play you can get some great shots. This one was made in Arches National Park right outside of Moab.
A Tree
This is a tree I shot in a gorger in Austrailia. Austrailia has lots of surprises. Many photographers would by this tree and not shoot it as it is just a tree. However, if you know your camera and know how to post process and image you can take a shot like this and make it a good final image. I used Capture One Pro to make this image and a number of tools available in it. First started with color balance. Then I worked contrast and saturation. This was followed by some local adjustments and the use of color editor to fine tune certain colors. Then I vignetted the shot as well as used local adjustments to darken parts of the image. I tried this in Lightroom too and I am pretty good with both, but LR couldn’t come close to the color and detail that Capture One made.
Since I Am In Australia
I have visited Austrailia a number of time and just love the country. So many beautiful things and some of the nicest people on the planet. This shot was made while waiting for a sunset at Ayers Rock. We got one of the local girls to pose for us. This is Austrailia.
Off On Another Adventure
I leave tomorrow for another adventure This time to Kimberley, Austrailia where I will be hosting 30 plus photographers on the True North cruise ship to do a photographic expedition into this amazing part of the world. Read about what we have planned by CLICKING HERE. Of course preparing for a trip like this takes lots of planning not to mention high end gear. Read about what is my bag at the LUMINOUS-LANDCAPE web site. Once I return I’ll have a ton of images to share. In the mean time please keep visiting. I’ll set posting up to be done automatically for a while.
America’s Tuscany
I am in Tuscany now and before I start posting what I am sure will be a ton of great Tuscany images, I wanted to share an image from what I consider to be America’s Tuscany, the Palouse. This was made on one of those morning at sunrise with storms rolling in. The scene changed every few minutes and I feel this image has just so much going on in it.
New Zealand Waterfall
I have been re-working some of my images using the update Capture One software 7.. I basically take images I worked on previously and run them back through the processor and they now come out even better. This is one of those images. It was shot on an IQ180 in New Zealand last December. I love the greens and details I was able to pull out of this shot. This was magical location.
Olympic National Park Green
About two years ago visited Olympic National Park for a week of photography with some very close friends. It was great week with a lot on nice images. This picture is indicative of the week. Lots of waterfalls and lots of green.
