Time For Catch Up

Castle Stalker, Scotland

I am home until the day after Thanksgiving them off to Philadelphia area for a 40th reunion. The years are stacking up. I am home for a day after that then catch a flight to New Zealand. The trip to NZ is along. But I have methods to deal with 28 hours of flying. Hope my iPad can make it. I can charge it on the plane. This image is one of many from Scotland. Castle Stalker done with some artistic flare.

Clint’s Secret Spot

Clint’s Secret Spot, Monument Valley, AZ

As you can tell from previous posts I was leading a PODAS workshop in Monument Valley and the Slot Canyons last wee. We had a great time and great images. To do photography in remote areas we needed to use Indian guides. We had 4 really  great guides in Monument Valley. The guide who was driving the 4WD drive I was in had many of his own secret spots.  Seems all the Indian guides have locations that they consider theirs. This was one of those spots. Very nice at sunrise.

Monument Valley

Monument Valley from Hunts Mesa

It’s been very hard posting the last few weeks. I have been leading PODAS Photography workshops in Scotland and now in Monument Valley and also did some family things in between. For now I am going full speed at the PODAS Monument Valley workshop and oh what a workshop it has been. Amazing photography. I have a lot of images to post here in the weeks to come. For now you’ll have to settle for this shot from Hunts Messa.

Green Island Cemetary

Green Island Cemetery, Scotland

One of the places w visited in Scotland was one of the oldest known cemeteries.  We spent nearly two hours here after an 1.5 hour boat ride. Only way to visit this place is by boat. To say the place was surreal would be an understatement.  It deserved the BW treatment. I’ll post some more interesting image from here in the near future.

Train In The Valley

Glenfinnan‑Viaduct – Scotland

The Scotland trip continues. Today is the last day of shooting followed by closing ceremonies tonight. This has been an excellent PODAS workshop as we have photographed so many great places, made new friends and had a few laughs. Makes photography a lot of fun. The attendees from the workshop are from all over the world and it’s great to see how a passion of photography is common everywhere. This shot made with the Phase One IQ180 is of the Glenfinnan Viaduct. This was the last run for this train until net spring.

Scotland Castles

Eilean Donan Castle, Scotland

Scotland is turning out to be a photographic gold mine.  So many beautiful places to take pictures of. The schedule for locations to visit over the next 7 days is amazing. I hope to be posting a new image each day from this trip. This a shot of the Eilean Donan Castle. It is a classic castle with bridge, old stone and sitting on an island. I shot this castle from many viewpoints. You may see more. But, this image I like because of the rock with a bird in the foreground and the colors. Stay tuned for more.

Scotland

Last Image Of The Day, Isle Of Skye, Scotland

I spent the day with Steve Gosling shooting the Isle of Skye today in Scotland. Oh, what a day. We experienced every kind of weather possible. Wind, cold, rain sun and incredible clouds. We drove countless miles on insane roads. I took 2200 exposures. I can post the rest of the year on images from this trip alone. Tomorrow the rest of the Phase One team begins to arrive and we will be in full force with the PODAS Workshop by Sunday. We have so many things planned I am sure we will all have a good time. It is what PODAS is all about. So stay tuned and be sure to check in at The PODAS Blog.

Scotland So Much To See

Scotland

I am writing to you from a small hotel somewhere in Skye, Scotland. I will be leading a workshop here in a few days and came early to scout out locations and get an idea of what Scotland is all about. And, does Scotland have a lot to offer. This was one shot of many keepers today. I shot with the Phase One IQ180, the iPhone and the Olympus OMD 5. This image was made with the art mode on the Olympus and it was the easy to do. So far I made some new friends on this trip, taken some good shots and feel good when I am out in my element taking pictures.  Stay tuned for more as I will post when time allows.

Hurricane Ridge

Hurricane Ridge, Olympic National Park

This is a shot made in Olympic National Park. One of my favorite National Parks, mainly because there is so much diverse landscape to shoot. I made this on Hurricane Ridge and off of a fire road I ventured to travel on. The sky was so blue that day and the color looked so incredible. Once I switched it over to BW though the image just jumped. Shot with a Phase One P65+.
