This image is part of the big steam pump that I posted yesterday. This was amazing engineering for the time. Everything was massive and heavy.
The Contraption
I have been shooting up a storm in Buffalo, NY this past few days. As you know from previous posts I love the urban decay, rust and such. I was fortunate enough with some other photographers to be able to shoot in Buffalo’s Silo City. This is a huge complex where grain from all over the country used to come in the early 20th century. These building are immense and have been a great joy to photograph the last few days. There will be more images posted in the coming days. This shot though was done at the Buffalo Water Works where we also had an exclusive vista to photograph this place up close. This is one of the 100 year old massive pumps.
Silo City 1
Here is my first interior shoot at Silo City. Amazing place with lots of potential. Look for more soon.
Niagara Falls
I am in Buffalo with Michael Reichmann shooting abandoned grain elevators for the next few days. The places we will be shooting are amazing and I am looking forward to a very productive few days of great photography. Today before arriving in Buffalo I had to stop offend try some new Lee Filters. This image was made with the Lee Seven 5 filter system with a big stopper filter. This is a 28 second exposure.
Castle Stalker
Scotland – land of the castle. This image is of the famous Castle Stalker. I have shot this castle at different times of the day and with different tides. This image was made late afternoon at low tide.
I’m Interviewed By Rick Sammon . . . .
I was recently interviewed by Rick Sammon for his Digital Photo Experience podcast. We discussed my photography as well as the Luminous-landscape website that I am publisher of. The interview begins around the 30 minute mark if you want to FF to it. Scroll to the bottom of the article to find the play button or download MP3. Click here to be taken to the Podcast Page.
Chicago River
I love Chicago. It’s one of the best cities to do Street Photography. So much is happening everywhere you look. The Chicago River has a lot of traffic on it not to mention some great architecture on its shore. I like this shot as it is Chicago and the Chicago River.
Painterly Ice
I am always trying to do something new and different. This is an image that was an iceberg shot from the northern polar icecap area. I processed the image through one of the Topaz programs and added a painterly effect to it. It gives it a whole new feel.
Trains 4
So my train project continues as I work on more if the images made during my shoot on Monday. Here is another. These were all made with the Fuji XT-1.
