I am in Canada this week working on my new business luminous-landscape.com. Doing a lot of planning and meetings to make sure we have all aspects under control moving forward. Lots of ideas to make a great site even better. Very exciting times. Michael Reichmann and I will work and in the afternoon go out shooting. You know how it is as a photographer. You got get out there and shoot. This picture was made in a field yesterday. It was right after a rain storm and I loved the way the drops of water clinged to the grass. I also thought B&W worked best for this image. Shot with a Nikon D800e and 24-70mm lens. Processed in Capture One and converted to BW while still a RAW.

Fireworks In Carmel
I have shot hundreds of fireworks shows and frankly I was getting kind of tired of the same old stuff. Then I started this project called Around Carmel and thought it would be cool to have the Perfroming Arts Center in the foreground of a picture with fireworks going off all over. A few phone calls later I found myself on the rooftop of the Tarkington building with one of the best locations in town to see the fireworks. It was a perfect place to shoot and I came out with a lot of good images. The one above is one of those.
Playing In Trains
I love shooting old trains and the colors and especially rust that comes with then. Lucky for me there is a train museum a short drive from where I live and I shoot there often. This is a shot of the interior of an old mail car. I understand in the old days the train would travel the tracks and grab mail bags off of hooks on the side of the railroad. These bags had mail in them and were sorted in a car like this and put in new bags to be dropped in towns where they were going along the route. Kind of cool.
BIG NEWS – Just Announced NEW 2015 Antarctica Trips
As you may know I am the publisher of Luminous-Landscape.com. We are the largest online photographic resource for photo enthusiasts and pros. We do workshops all over the world and work with some of the best instructors in the world. Today we just launched our 2015 Antarctica Workshops. We are offering two back to back workshops in January 2015. This is an incredible trip. I will have been there 6 times by the time the workshop takes place. I am doing Antarctica this November and in January 2014. It is my favorite place on the planet. It is a must see and must do on your bucket list. Especially if you enjoy taking pictures. Visit Luminous-Landcape and check it our and register. Our previous workshops sell out very quickly. The image above I made on my last trip. It is the ship we will be sailing on. Oh, did I mention we will be flying over the Drake.
Tuscany Well
When we think of Tuscany we think of the big landscape and rolling hills. Tuscany also has a ton of small villages, mostly sitting on top of hills. They are just as photographic. This is the public well from on of those villages.
Train Yard
I love what I call Sunday Photo Day. This past Sunday June 30th Debra and I headed to the Indiana Transportation Museum. I have been shooting there for year and there are all these old trains and some of them have the most beautiful rust and decay. Did I mention I like rust and decay? So here is the first of many I took that day. I hope in the coming weekends I can go out and shoot more there. I haven’t even begun to capture all of what is there. I’ll post more here over the coming weeks.
Around Carmel Again
My series on Around Carmel continues. This si such a nice community. This image was made by the War Memorial looking toward the Performing Arts Center. Shot with a Nikon D800e and 16mm lens.
Montgomery Reef
As you have seen from previous posts, i made a recent trip to the Kimberley region of Austrailia. Amazing doesn’t come close to describing what a great trip it was. we had a helicopter at our disposal (i wasn’t free) and it allowed us to go places and see things that weren’t possible without it. This is an image made from the helicopter of the Montgomery Reef and amazing place in the middle of the ocean off the coast of NW Austrailia.
