Symmetry

Bottom of a grain silo in Silo City, Buffalo, NY.

If you have been following my blog and photography, you’ll notice I tend to compose my images with a sense of symmetry. I like things balanced and equal, especially in the urban landscape, as seen in this image. To add to this image and keeping things balanced and equal, I cropped the image for square.

This photo was made in Silo City in Buffalo, NY.

They Are So Cute – Arctic Fox

An Arctic Fox in Svalbard

I love Svalbard which is a part of Norway and some of the most northern Islands in the world.  I travel to Svalbard at least once a year.  One of the highlights is photographing, and I look for two particular animal types.  Polar Bears and Arctic Foxes.  Here’s an Arctica Fox shot on a trip about a year ago.  They have a coat that changes from dark to white once a year.  They also don’t have a very long life; thus they tend to get the most out of their time on earth.  Adorable creatures.

Industrial Symmetry

Light bulb innate the bottom of silos in Silo City. Buffalo, NY

I love shooting rust and industrial landscapes.  It breaks up the routine of shooting nature and allows me a set of fresh eyes on different types of subjects.  This image and tomorrows image was made in Silo City in Buffalo.  This one location has provided me with an extraordinary amount of photographic opportunities. What I try to do in situations like this is to find symmetry and balance in the industrial components and then play with the light to take the image even further.  I decided that black and white worked best for these.

Open House

The Team at the Gallery

The team is all here.  We had a terrific open house at the gallery this past Friday and Saturday.  We had a ton of people visit us and it was a good time to talk photography with our many visitors as well as make some good sales. In this photo is Michael Durr our videographer, Debra-Fadely Raber and yours truly.  Michale made this image with the Insta 360, a new camera we have been testing for an upcomig review on our new website photoPXL.com.

Greenland Imensity

I travel to all the polar regions every year.  I have witnessed the changes taking place environmentally.  Still, no matter how many times I see it I am always amazed by the size of the icebergs in Greenland.  Look at this image and the sheer size of the iceberg dwarfing our ship.  Remember too that we are only seeing approximately 1/10th the iceberg as 9/10ths of it is underwater and in this case grounded on the bottom.  I return to Greenland this September with a group o 30 photographers for a workshop I am running as part of Rockhopperworkshops.
