Death Valley Race Track

One of the earths big mystery is the Race Track at Death Valley National Park.  I have visited this location a few times.  It’s not easy to get there and you need to make sure you have a vehicle that can you get there.  The race track is a playa that stretches for miles and is usually dry and cracked (like everything else in DV).  The mystery here is that the stone magically moves on the playa and leave their tracks in the dried up mud.  There are many theories about how this happens but no one really has witnessed this.  I believe like many that after a rainstorm the playa fills with a few inches of water and then the crazy winds come in and the wind pushes the rock around and the rock leaves a path of where it came from.  In any case, it makes for some great photos.  These are two for my large collection.  I think you will agree they are pretty cool.

Scotty’s Castle

Scottys castle
Scottys Castle Death Valley

This image was made at Scotty’s Castle in Death Valley National Park a few years ago.  Scottys Castle is a kind of strange place as a lot of things are out in the desert.   Essentially it is a giant mansion built in the early 20th century out in the middle of nowhere. You can read about Scottys HERE.  Please note that a little over a year ago Scottys was almost wiped out by a torrential flood and still remains closed and will not reopen until mid-2020.

This image was made lying on the floor of one of the circular cases.  I shot directly upwards and then did some post-processing to add the gritty effect.
