Rickets Glen

Rickets Glen, Pennsylvania

Tucked away in the mountains of central Pennsylvania is a small state park known as Rickets Glen.  Literally out in the middle of no where this park boast 26 waterfalls and all of them are beautiful.  It’s a two day adventure to visit Rickets Glen and shoot these falls.  Obviously better to do in the Fall with colors changing.  Here is one image expect to see more.

Some More New Zealand Water and Trees

River, Rees Valley, New Zealand

I moved my New Zealand images over to my main work station yesterday and there is over 80 gigs of images.  Not hard to make this size file when you shoot with a Phase One IQ180 camera.  So now the editing begins and then the post on each image.  There are so many good ones.  So I think through the rest of the year I’ll plenty to share.  I have a ton of other images I haven’t posted here from Death Valley, Moab and other places.  So, there is not a lack of content.  Todays image was also shot in the Rees Valley of New Zealand.  We were driving up this dirt road that they call tracks in New Zealand and came across this river or very large stream.  Lots of rapids and mountains and greenish water.  So we all stopped and did pictures.  This is one of the images I made.  Like the vertical and horizontal movements happening as well as the rooks and tree.  Enjoy.

Icelandic Waterfall

Waterfall - Iceland

Iceland is one of the most beautiful locations for doing landscape photography.  The vistas just keep coming at you.  Hard to describe unless you visit.  I am leading another workshop there next May and look forward to visiting and photographing there again.  The image above is the base of one of the hundreds of waterfalls that exist there.  I dragged the shutter a bit to get the feel of the water hitting the shoots then played with the image on the ipad a bit.  This was photographed with a Phase One P65+ back so I had 60 megapixels to work with.  This shot doesn’t come close to showing the detail in the images.

Another Hot Day In Indy – Cool Day In The Forrest

Waterfall - Olympic National Park, Washington

I am trying to think of the right adjective to describe just how hot it is in Indy, so insert your own.  It’s XXXXXXX HOT!.  I don’t do good in heat above 80 degrees.  Maybe why I like colder climates like Antarctica and the mountains so much.  It looks like we are in for record-breaking hots days for the for the next week.  Air conditioners can’t even keep up.  So, I thought we should venture into the woods and view some cool waterfalls for today.  This image was shot in Olympic National Park and it just feels cool.  I feel better when I look at it, hope you do too.

Waterfalls and Green

Waterfall - Olympic National Park

Last spring a group of friends and I went on our annual Mancation.  It’s a group of 10 guys all well known photographers and we pick a spot and we shoot for a week.  We also drink a lot of wine, pick on each other, tell jokes but more than anything else enjoy a common passion – photography.  This shot was taken on last years trip when we visited Olympic National Park in Washington.  We explored the whole park and stayed at three different hotels.  The weather was absolutely perfect for the whole trip and we were surprised on how much green we saw.  This shot was made with the Phase One P65+ at a roadside waterfall.  Exposure was about 1/8th of a second.  The detail in this image is extraordinary as you would expect from a 60 megapixel camera.  One of many waterfalls shot on this trip.

Waterfalls Again

Waterfall - Iceland

This beautiful photo was taken in Iceland a few months ago.  Needless to say I am in love with this magnificent country and look forward to many return trips.  It is photo rich as we would say.  This is one of hundreds of waterfalls around Iceland.  I like this just because it has a different shape than others.  The valley in the background also adds to it.

Waterfalls Again – Kind Of

Waterfall Near Hoh Rain Forrest

Every year in the spring I set out on a photo trip with around 8 of my very closest photographer friends.  It’s quite an ecliptic group and we have a lot of laughs drink a lot of wine eat well and more than anything else photograph a lot.  Every year one of the guys is responsible for where we go.  It’s not an easy job as this can be a very tough group to please.  It was my responsibility this past year and we visited Olympic National Park in the state of Washington.  We stayed at three different locations and we had one heck of a good time.  Today’s photo was taken off the side of a dirt road someplace near the Hoh Rain Forrest.  If you are interested in learning to photograph waterfalls better please read this article by Mark Dubovoy.
