Like yesterday’s post I look for images that are just part of something bigger. This image is an oil storage tank I found in Valparaiso, Argentine when visiting there. I put the long lens on and shot the tank with the stairway going through from one corner to the other. It makes a viewer stop and look at the image because they don’t know what they are looking at.

Picture In The Picture
In my last post I spoke of looking around you to make sure you don’t miss the shot. Today I want to encourage you to look into the landscape. Put a lonh lens on your camera and explore the elements that make up the shot. I have been doing this a lot lately and come out with beautiful images. This ius part of the Grand Canyon visia in UT. I did my wide shots with the wider angle lenses and then put a 100-400mm lens on my Sony. Zoomed all the way to 400mm I loooked around the landscape and he image above is one of the many elements I cme across.
I hv done this for the last year and found I am getting some beutiful results.
Always Turn Around
If there is one thing I teach while doing workshops is that you must always be looking. You need to look behind you, around you and even what’s at your feet. Too often photographers get so engaged with what is in front of them, tat they miss the real shot that may be actually behind them. This image is one of those. I was shooting at the grand canyon looking at this beautiful overlook being lit by the sun set. I was so engrossed in what I was doing that I forgot to look behind me. When I did this is the image I saw. So, always be looking.
Fill Her Up
First let me apologize for any regular readers that it has been so long since I posted. I was on a. 3 week plus road trip without any significant internet. So, now it is catch up time. This image is the hot air balloon that I’m about to ride in being filled up with hot air. I’m inside with the flame coming right at me. Lots of fun.
Hot Air Ballooning in Sedona
I was recently invited to a Sony event to try out the new Sony a7r III camera. Quite the camera and full of features to make any photography lust for it. On the article part of the site you can find some articles on this camera and trip with more coming. In any case here is a fun photo of me just prior to taking off.
